Myles Kennedy is the weak link on Starlight
Personally I think his vocals are killer on both tracks, but especially "Starlight". I know lots of people don't seem to like him, but he's impressed me so far. I wasn't too familiar with him. I've heard some Alter Bridge in passing, but not at any great length.
"Gotten" just sounds like a typical slowed down melodic adult contemporary Maroon 5 love song, which I've never been a fan of.

Yeah, I may start to hate him when/if he goes on tour with Slash and starts to rape GNR classics. But from what I've heard, it sounds like he might be able to do them justice. So until that happens, I've got nothing but good things to say about him.

Ironically, he's the ONLY guy i've heard so far, that has the range to attempt to.
The only thing i'm hoping for, is Slash knows what the hardcore fans want. Like with Duff performing off-Illusion trx with Loaded, I think it'd be cool as hell if Slash took Myles and started busting out shit like Civil War or Locomotive.

This is just complete schmaltzy crap. I love this line. "You just get me/like I've never been gotten before". What a third-grade lyric.
And the construction of the song baffles me. It's like:
Lalala, nice soft song, hmmm, hmmmm, HERE'S THE LOUDASS FUCKING SOLO, RIGHT THROUGH YOUR HEAD, pretty little song again, ladidlala, i'm adam levine and i sing like a chick.
Otherwise, nice tune.
I love the description. I can't stand Maroon 5, or the way this chick sings, so I'm resisting listening.
That lyric is like nails on a chalk board to me.

LOL, never would've guessed it, but this is my favourite track on the album. This and By The Sword are the only songs that have stuck in my head and I've found myself singing in my head at work.
I havnt heard a bad song to be honest, they are all ok and I think its a good album, but most of them just dont grab me and while they are ok, I just dont get an urge to listen to them again.
I reckon Slash has a potentially massive crossover hit here, this song is daytime radio gold. It kinda reminds me of David Gray type mince, which was popular but I dont know why. This song is really not my usual taste at all, I'm suprised I like it so much, I think it just has really pleasant melodies and the singer does a really great job.
One of the things I really admire about this album is the singers havnt just "phoned it in", they have helped give the songs an organic, unrushed feel, that many of these types of albums sometimes suffer from.
