You certainly cannot argue with the 87-91 lineup's records. Live, I think the current group is as good as any prior incarnation.
I still love Guns N' Roses. I would just like to see them cut a new record. I went through my "live" phase during the Bucket-era, and most of 2006... i've just kind of moved on.
If GN'R aren't producing studio material, there's other bands out there that are, that are gonna get my attention more.
That's just where i'm at with it. I think it's the end of my 'fanboy' days with GN'R.
I'd love to see the 2009-10 band cut a record, and see what they've got on an album level. And I don't mean recycling 8 year old Bucket material.
Actually, according to ASCAP, Bucket only has 4 writing credits for Gnr whereas these guys plus Axl all have more...
Robin - (total of seven)
Dizzy - (total of seven)
Tommy - (total of six)
Paul - (total of ten) *includes OMG, Shadow of Your Love, Back Off BitchTHUS,in reality, this latest incarnation will more than likely be recycling Paul Tobias, Dizzy Reed, Robin Finck and Tommy Stinson tracks.
The Bucket card gets played a little too often.
Well, I think Axlin08 is talking about Bucket material possibly already recorded.
As for writing credits, how long was Bucket in the band vs. those other guys?
Re: Montevideo, Uruguay - March 18, 2010 (Estadio Centenario)
What I had in mind, was when I listened to CD, I didn't hear too much original contributions from Ron. I just heard Bucket's written material being redone. Probably more perception than reality.
Bottom line... they need to wipe the state clean, and start fresh with the current band.

do any of you guys think axl'll drop the finck/bucket unreleased(unfinished??) songs in favour of brand new material??
Re: Montevideo, Uruguay - March 18, 2010 (Estadio Centenario)
who knows...Axlin08, I understand your point and agree. Best for all parties would be a Chinese Democracy special edition boxset released later this year to coincide with a Fall US tour..something the hardcores would pay a pretty penny for.....maybe release another unheard single from the remaining material. Finish a US tour, then start over from scratch in 2011.

^^
That would be a freakin' dream.

Umm, yes and no. In the past, I would've said "Axl doesn't have the balls" to abandon that material, because I think he had a particular hard on for that 2002 band (not that I blame him).
But now, I think he's feeling a new energy, and feeling confident in the players they've put together in the present.
It just might convince him to go out there, and take a chance on some fresh material. To be honest, the Bucket/Huge material would probably be good staved off for "bonus CD" goodies for new albums, because they're not really giving anything away. Another option could be mixing that unreleased stuff on EP's with live material, just for the cash grab.
