Ehh, I think it's 50/50. I agree that the press digs it up. I mentioned Haim... did anyone pay any attention to that guy in the last 10-15 years that he had an ongoing drug addiction? Not much. The guy dies, and the press comes swarming in, and tries to create all kinds of drama.

Weiland, they do seem to only want to approach him if he's either fucked up or sober. But in his case, Weiland has always presented himself as kinda rebellious. I would think he would come in and just talk about his work, his family, and focus on that. But it's always on his addictions. I'm surprised he wants to even answer those questions anymore, especially considering the fact that he's drug-clean now. Yet, I think he knows, that if he completely abandons those questions, the interviews will all dry up.

The media is ALWAYS responsible, but I think Weiland does consciously bring it on sometimes.

The media brings up the drugs first.  If you notice, in just about any interview he does, he always talks more about his work and his family than about drugs.

Comparing him and Corey Haim is a very weak argument considering their respective levels of celebrity are totally different.

The problem is that Scott has always been fucked up on something, and people still want to know about that.  And with the number of times he's relapsed the question will always come up.  That part is inevitable.  Even if he stays sober 10 years the question will still be there.

^ I agree, it's just journalists asking the easy questions to get a bit of action into the story and not having to do much research. Slash will always be asked about axl and GNR even if his solo work or VR goes to the top of the charts....Izzy will be asked about pissing in a plane, scott about drugs....Ozzy about the bat incident....it's just how it works.
