Re: A guy I work with met CC Deville
So this guy I work with was telling me on friday about his wife & work. He said her coworker (a guy) is married to CC Devilles ex-wifes sister. (Got that?). To be honest, I don't know if they were married, but it's easier saying it that way rather than CC's babies momma.
So, anyway, this guy has said for some time next time he's in town they'll meet up, because she apparently was a big fan & has been telling him so. So they go out to dinner somewhat nearby here. It wasn't like CC was at some cover band bar, signing autographs, or a publicity event either, just a few people, dinner & drinks.
So we were wondering how it'd go although I'd figure he seems like a nice enough guy. Well apparently he totally is. Basically it was just that, hanging out, telling stories, shooting the shit. He said he's not quite as animated as he is on TV (out in space), however when he gets into a story yeah he'll speak real high pitched & talk a mile a minute. But for the most part no. He didn't talk much about the old glory days, no tour stories. My friend kindof didn't want to ask. He said Brett is busy with the reality shows this year, and doing well with it, so no plans to tour. Myb next year (not that it matters). He said he does watch alot of reality TV, he likes that show Cash Cab on Discovery channel i think. They asked if he'd do reality tv & he said no. He did 2 shows & that's it. He has a plan for a show (not really, more of a joke) it's called "The Asshole" and that's just it, a guy who's an asshole. (I'll have to ask him more about this, but that seemed like that's about his plan, again, seemed he was joking). He doesn't listen to any music at all anymore. Partly because he still writes & records & listening to music & guitars just seems like work. He listens to talk radio, sports & talk radio. I think he's sober because my friend said he drank cokes & sprites all night.
That's about it, I saw photos on his facebook page. Pretty funny. Looks a bit like him, but really I wouldn't know it was him unless I knew. He said only one couple there seemed to recognize him. no one else really paid any attention. Pretty funny story. He always seems pretty level headed about where he stands in the rock world, just a guy who was having the time of his life for a while, then it all crumbled down into nothingness. In interviews (VH1 countdown shows etc) he seems modest, doesn't try to rewrite Poison's history.
Re: A guy I work with met CC Deville
Pretty cool. I've actually always respected those guys over there. CC, Bret... I mean they realize Poison is the punchline of 80's glam. But they totally embrace it, seem humbled by it, and keep on truckin'
Gotta respect that. Not like KISS who copies (badly) every fad of each decade, because they are purely a commerical entity.

I'll admit, Poison is a bit of a guilty pleasure, I absolutely loved them as a kid when I was growing up, just discovering rock music. Open Up and Say Ah still has a lot of cool tracks on it, which connects me with my youth when I hear them.
