Listen, as a life long KISS Army member, I wish Gene would shut this shit up. I am sure when Paul Stanley heard about his comments, it drove him crazy too. And I know going by attendance figures, KISS can't hang with the Stones or U2 in 2010. But you guys SERIOUSLY underrate KISS' musical ability. Way underrate them...
And its my opinion, that when it comes to live shows, there is KISS, and everyone else is a notch below.
I'm purposely underrating them out of contempt for Simmons bashing the stones. No harm meant.
Funnily enough. Im 22 and living the other side of the world from you guys. Kiss are playing nearby and a group of young fans all 17 18 are going.
They seem to have a good rep even among adolescents. These are the same guys who are going to see Mastadon and Lamb of god. kiss have crossed over into mythical status. There must be a reason why.
I wonder what bbf would make of all this. He's a huge Kiss fan.
I personally wish that the Stones had gone the David Bowie root and re-invented their sound a little more over the years too. But they still have a sturdy back catalogue though listening to let it bleed sticky fingers and exile last week I couldn't help but notice the absolute shitty recording.
I gave the white album another listen too. The technology was around back then to make pretty good recordings yet the stones never embraced it shame

The movie Detroit Rock City which was actually pretty good doesn't hurt in helping Kiss cross over into a new generation of fans. I'
m sure that helped alot. Not to mention Gene Simmons reality show Family Jewels. It's kinda like how Bret Michaels saw an increase in younger fans at his concerts after he did Rock of Love. Give any band a primetiem reality show or a decent movie and their fanbase will increase. Watch the popularity surge with the Runaways and Pat Benatar once the movie comes out. Especially since Kristen Stewart who plays Bella in Twighlight is playing the role of Pat Benatar.
