I'm a huge KISS fan, and would take them and their show over U2 anyday of the week. I do love the Stones though. But no one puts on a show like KISS.
agreeded. seen all them live & KISS r defo most brilliant & if they ever got a support slot 2 either Stones r U2 they'd blow their audiences minds if they were in any way open. live - KISS > Stones > U2, though the stones live '63- '72 woulda been somethin'..
but KISS'll never support those bands especially not the stones. KISS never really made it as a stadium band, did they? (i mean you could get acca dacca or even U2 supporting the stones who both fill stadiums in their own right.. 4 all their commercial appeal i doubt KISS'd even do stadiums as well as Guns r Aerosmith..)
nonetheless Alive II is better than anything any of those bands did 'cept AFD & a bagful of Stones numbers..

It's just Kiss being Kiss. Covering up their bad musicianship & lack of songwriting ability with a bunch of outlandish showmanship. It's what made them them. Appealing to the young, then the young grew up & some are still interested. They're nowhere near as good as the Stones or U2. It's laughable. It'd be like Marilyn Manson saying he's up their with Metaliica, Pearl Jam & NIN.

U2 opening for the Stones? Maybe back in the early 80's but not anymore. I've seen the Stones live(Voodoo Lounge and Bigger bang) and U2 is the far superior live act these days. Also U2 is without question on par with the Stones as far as drawing power goes. Plus U2 has surpassed the Stones in terms of longevity as far as being "relevant" late into their career. I don't quite remember but the Stones haven't had a #1 album in the US since 1982 or something. I guess the only way U2 opens for the Stones these days would be based on a seniority type thing 
Gene Simmons should give it a rest untill his band actually does a stadium tour crushing attendence records in a down economy with a production 1/4 the size of U2's 360. Actually Gene should give it a rest untill his band actually becomes a legit stadium act.
Don't get me wrong, I have no doubt KISS put on a great show but comments like this make me roll my eyes. It's be like Chad Kroger from Nickleback trying to say they're as good as Guns N' Roses.

U2 wouldn't open for the stones whole tour, but they could still share a one off bill - like aca dacca did for the stones on the bigger bang. i've no qualms in saying that U2 are the biggest whatever... but this all moot 'cause the stones aren't playing and when they are U2 won't be and then will the stones ever be playing again??

Let me preface this by saying I am a KISS fan.
Now.... I'm sure this is what's going on. KISS can't sell out a stadium anymore, so what's the best way to play a sold-out stadium tour? Play with people who can. There's no way in hell that line-up would happen, so Gene's doing what any child would do, and is trying to taunt the other band's so they can try to prove him wrong.
In a nutshell, that is my theory.

I was once a Kiss fan.. And then I turned 5.
Pretty much says it.
Simmons still has no clue how much of a worthless, unlegit rocker he is.
KISS challenging U2 & The Stones to a throw down, would be like Insane Clown Posse challenging the original GN'R to throw down.

Listen, as a life long KISS Army member, I wish Gene would shut this shit up. I am sure when Paul Stanley heard about his comments, it drove him crazy too. And I know going by attendance figures, KISS can't hang with the Stones or U2 in 2010. But you guys SERIOUSLY underrate KISS' musical ability. Way underrate them...
And its my opinion, that when it comes to live shows, there is KISS, and everyone else is a notch below.
