Re: CD Gear
So I've been away for a while, and I came back last night looking to see if I could find lists (or even pics) of the gear used on CD and on the tours. I was on analogman's website, and he was talking about how he had made a bi-comp for Buckethead. After hearing it, Paul Tobias and Robin both had Anlog Mike make them compressors as well. This got me wondering what other cool, unusual, or botique effects got used. I've seen the picture of Robin's NIN board, but I have to imagine it's quite different from his GnR setup.
Anyone got anything?

Re: CD Gear
I'm going to need whatever Robin used on the CD solo
Well we know for sure there's a Maxon CS9 chorus on there, but I'm not sure what else. From what I've read, Robin favors the Marshall JMP1 midi preamp, but he may have also used a JCM800 in the studio. Pics from the 06 tour showed him using TSL100s too.
Re: CD Gear
On his old site, Robin had pics of his rig for the 06-07 tours. I remember the heads he used were JCM 2000s and I saw a couple Boss Blues Driver pedals on his rack. IIRC, bbf used a Line 6 Vetta II amp on that tour also.
edit: heres some more info on his setup

Re: CD Gear
Yeah I don't know about the equip used either but i'd be very interested.
I'd love to know how Bucket get's that sound he gets in the slower passages...for example the solo in the middle of "If the world"...and in parts of soothsayer on his solo stuff....it's a great lead sound.

Re: CD Gear
The JCM 2000 is a good amp to cover the GNR catalog... The 800 is a great amp, but the 2000 has that extra gain the CD tone needs.

A large part of Bucket's tone is his guitar, oversized chambered Les Paul's are very unique, there's really no other way to nail that sound. The rest of his sound is from his fingers.
Luckily for us, his guitar can now be bought for $1895USD.

Just get a cat and strangle it, should come close.
j/k Russ, that was a low blow.
