Really? A bad performance put you off that much? Good thing you're not a Metallica fan then .
Ok, as the resident Metallica fan here, I'm gonna bite...:haha:
I've seen live Metallica 3 times, and all 3 shows were outstanding.
Plus, I've seen plenty of live footage over the years, and nothing I'd ever call "bad".
As for GN'R, and Slash, I've seen plenty of "bad" performances, I'm still a fan though.

Re: Slash on tour
Note to Madagas, Slash hasn't smoked in a long time.. I think he stopped 8 months before his mother died. She died last year. He has gone to the top hat full time due to thinning hair. First VR tour he hardley wore the top hat, maybe 2 songs per night.
I saw slash with VR durin the AIC tour. Cantrell is good, not great. He is MUCH better now that he has a rythym player.
Re: Slash on tour
Last time I saw Slash was VR and Alice in Chains opened. Cantrell was better. Sorry. Probably because VR sucks and Alice was awesome. But, it was an Alice in Chains greatest hits set vs a VR set....hands down Cantrell.
Now, put Slash in a Gnr greatest hits set, even with Weiland, and it should be even.
Personally, I am kinda over the top hat and cigarette...cool when you are 20....cheese when you are 40. I can say the same about Axl right now. The bracelets and bandanna are too 80's for me. Just rock the shirt and jeans and tats...let the red hair fly.
Oh well, I don't have a say....
Howard Stern said pretty much the same thing about Slash the other day on his show. He mentioned how he saw a picture of Slash and he was still wearing the top hat and that he figured he did that because it looked cool back in the day and would change as time went on. Instead, it's starting to look like more of a costume.
AND, to be fair. Howard said similar things about Axl last week. That he still dresses like he's in the 80's.

Re: Slash on tour
Well, I mean realisticly slash has a heart condition these days and can't be expected to match the on-stage lunacy of 1987 or 1991. I mean the guy gets a fucking zap from a pacemaker everytime he gets into a solo too much! So he's not going to be running and diving like back in the day....
However that said, he's still one of the greatest and most influental players of our time, and that alone is enough for me to support him and check out his newest offering.

Note to Smoking Guns, I guess that shows you how much I care about Slash these days! He still looks goofy with the top hat constantly on.
Re: Slash on tour
How in the fuck are you gonna criticize how a rock star of all people dresses? Slash wears his Ramones shirts because he likes the Ramones, not because it's ironic or just because the other dude in school had that logo on his shirt. Slash wears jeans/leather pants, a t-shirt, a leather jacket and a top hat... so if he loses the top hat he's all modern? Because rock stars never wear top hats, right? None!
Axl and Slash look fine. You want modern, you got cornrows. And you didn't like that much, did ya?

I've seen them twice. And both times they were so obviously phoning it in, half the crowd sat down during the whole show. Although I must add that on both accounts they were playing (headlining) a festival, so maybe they just weren't into it too much.
