Well, I can play most of the original band's songs on guitar, so I guess I can hang with them too!
Wait, is that Luke Skywalker in your avatar? I thought it was the guy from The Office, or... Jack Black.
I think the deciding factor of hanging out with the band is having the band, mostly Axl, like you.

jeeeezzzzzzzzzzus, can we not be trollin' del at this stage??! as Lame as his involvement with the band is, bitching about it at this stage ain't gonna change anything. & like Rex alluded to he has helped axl 2 some extent write some classic Guns songs & axl 2 some extent is why we are where & who we are..

Anyway, why the Del hate?
Comes off as petty and jealous.
And as a practical matter, if you spotted a group of celebs, and you got your camera with you, and someone's taking your picture... wouldn't you feel awkward saying "oh, uhm, not you..." to one in the party?

Del James has history with GN'R, and even co-wrote some GN'R tunes, so I wouldn't say he's a hanger-on, but he's still got his head stuck up Axl's ass.

Seeing the old photo of Del, it makes me feel a bit nostalgic, and I wish the old lineup could've seen all the bullshit through to be doing these South American shows alongside Axl. That would be fucking awesome.

....enough is enough. Del has been a part of Axl's life since the fucking 80's. I assume most of you dorks simply don't have many close friends that you have known for 20 plus years. Sorry, but some people develop relationships that don't break....for whatever reason, Axl and Del are still close. I am quite certain he earns his paycheck as it is fairly obvious that Axl can be difficult and the entourage around Axl is small and tight. Some of you guys really overplay your hand and display serious deep rooted bitterness at the whole "Gnr" situation. The sad thing is that you drop the quality of your argument when things are going good. It truly exposes your deep seeded anger at Axl, and the overall disintegration of the old band.
