Re: Slash New Album - Music Previewed at LAYN Rocks
Live and scrappy on this new tune but Mr. Slash sounds on top form. his playing is more UYI days in my mind than anything he did with VR.

This was posted in the thread below, but I think it's worthy of it's own one. Sounds killer, can't wait to hear the studio version.

The more I listen to this, the more I think it could do pretty well on the radio, especially here in Australia. Wolfmother are very popular here as they're an Aussie band, and this sounds like a Wolfmother track with a killer Slash solo.

I agree Metallex. The sad reunion dreaming old fuck in me thinks when he sings 'when they try to complicate you but you left it all behind' i swear to God its about as close as I will ever get to hearing Axl sing over Slash's guitar before I die...
he's not a patch on Axl of course but I bet the studio version will slay..

Well, there will be no nu-metalish, VR-type of songs, nor thousands of synths and loops. I'd rather call it classic sounding than retro though.

There's a fergie track on here and an Ozzy track. Don't rule out the synth. Ozzy can't sound good on a song nowadays without layers of the stuff and Fergie is fairly pop. They may still be good songs, not slamming them as bad before I hear them. All I know so far from what I've hard is, this album is shaping up to be a lukwarm 2.5/5

Re: Slash New Album - Music Previewed at LAYN Rocks
I think it's a bit early to give it a 2.5 (or a 1 or a 5), because we've only heard 1 track (live) that'll be on the record. The Japanese single tracks will not be on the album.
He has 18 songs to choose from and I think he should choose the younger guys' songs. Less 60-year old legends singing for Slash would make a better stuff. It's not an album for Slash's childhood dreams, it should be an album for the music listeners.

The Ozzy song is supposed to be the first single though isn't it?
No doubt it won't appeal to younger listeners much, but I'm sure it will still rock pretty hard. I'm looking forward to it!
