Well it HAS happened before. The 1985 Kansas City Royals came back from a 3-1 deficit against the St. Louis Cardinals, to win the series.

So it has happened. But everything is stacked against Philly. If Lee pitches well tonight, they could push it back to NY. But I don't see them making it past Game 6. hmm

Pedro could have a fastball that reaches 85 mph, that'd be a better script.

The Phils just barely won tonight... with Lee. They almost lost it in the 9th - AGAIN.

Still don't see them making it past Game 6. Then again I didn't see them making it past Game 4. 16

Maybe (hopefully) Girardi's decision to go with a 3 man rotation will backfire on the Yankees.  Not sure if it was the short rest or not but Burnett certainly didn't pitch well tonight after he was lights out in game 2.  CC wasn't as good last night as he was in game 1, what would he be like in game 7 if it comes to that?  And how will Pettitte pitch on short rest in game 6?

Obviously the Yanks still have the advantage but these are just some things Phillies fans can hang their hats on.  Pedro pitched well in game 2, Pettitte was good but not great in game 3.  So the pitching matchup seems pretty even on paper as long as Pedro can continue with his A game.

If they could somehow force a game 7, it'd be interesting to see how Manuel uses his staff for that one.  I'd guess he'd start Hamels but at the first sign of trouble have Happ ready to go (if he wasn't used extensively in game 6).  Blanton on 3 days rest would also be available out of the pen.  Even Lee could be used for a few innings on 2 days rest.  Only Pedro would be unavailable.

The Hamels thing could be interesting if they go to Game 7.

Hamels pretty much doesn't give a fuck, and wants the season over. Not really the 'positive' attitude you want on the mound going into the game of all games in baseball... a World Series - Game 7.

Lee said he would be ready to go for game seven. It won't go to seven though. Anyway just popping in the thread to let Pasnow that I am here when the yanks lost.

I'm hoping for a game 7 and ultimately a Phillies win, but I don't feel too strongly about it.  Can Pedro possibly pitch well a 3rd game in a row, and a 2nd time in a week against the Yanks?  Will someone other than Utley hit for the Phillies?  Pettitte is always stellar in these spots.  Is it possible he pitches poorly on short rest?

Obviously things aren't looking great for the Phils, but it ain't over yet.

Both team are gonna rbe banking on the relief pitching that's for sure. Hopefully the Yanks can shut down Utley and Tex wakes up from his slump. That stadium will be rocking that's for sure. Both teams have the ability to win a ball game in the 8th or 9th inning when down by a few so it's always interesting and exciting.

I really hope Pettitte pitches a gem and gets the win. He's 17-9 in the post season nice way to retire with victory number 18 and clinching a post season series for the 6th time.

Both teams may have the ability to come back from being down in the 8th and 9th but the Yanks are MUCH more likely than the Phils.  Rivera is the main difference between the 2 teams.  He can get 6+ outs and is rarely scored upon.  The Phillies are still searching for answers at the end of games.  The Phils do not want to be down 4-3 heading into the 8th.  For the Yanks, that wouldn't be a bad position.
