A-Roid went down bad tonight, Did he have 3 strikeouts?! Texiera's just an afterthought anyway. Phillies have 3 or 4 hitters better than him anyway, they just don't/can't pay them $20 million/year. I like Pedro in NY Game 2 too. Let's rock!

I'm glad they won. I'm not a Yanks fan (there is such a thing as winning too much in history, and they are it).
These predictions are always done on paper.
I mean look at 2003. Who would've ever thought the Marlins, which looked like a AAA team compared to the Yankees, would won the series? No one was picking the Marlins.

Couple things: I still can't believe that the Phillies got Lee for essentially a B Level Pitching Prospect (Carrasco), B Level Middle Infielder (Donald), replaceable catcher (Marson) and an young pitcher with upside (Jason Knapp). Lee even had a year remaining too! The Indians at least got a top hitting prospect in LaPorta with the Sabbathia trade. Unbelievable, they got to keep like their top 3 prospects. Meanwhile, Riccardi was still asking for the moon for Halladay.
I don't know about Pedro in Game Two as he has traditionally struggled there. But he does have the advantage of his arm being relatively fresh.
Phillies lineup is stacked anyway with Utley, Howard (his salary is getting high though), Werth and Ibanez. They got Werth and Victorino for cheap. As for Howard he almost got traded in 2005 to the Pirates for Kip Wells (I think Benson was also rumored but there was definitely a Wells-Howard proposal) but Dumbass Littlefield thought that he had a future 1B in Brad Eldred (he like many pirates ending up sucking in the major) so he declined. I guess Ed Wade dodged a bullet there.
Anyway, go phils.

Of course, it IS only 1 game, so let's not get too carried away. But it was a large win for Lee to beat CC. I don't love the pitching matchups for the Phils in games 2 or 3. I hope I'm wrong about Pedro, I just don't think he'll be anywhere near as good as he was against the Dodgers. Although I expect the Phillies to be able to knock around Burnett. And man I'd love to see it. He hasn't earned that contract yet, not even close. Let's keep it that way. Pettitte is always tough in the post-season and Hamels has struggled, so that seems like a tough matchup too. But they'll be back home for that one. We'll see what happens.

I'd just love if the Yanks lose. The New York Post wouldn't know what to do. They showed a picture of Shane Victorino in a dress the other day with a headline "The Frillies are coming to town". Suck it NYP!

Yankees take game three for a 2-1 lead.
Swisher broke out of his slump with a double and a HR. Hedeki hit a pinch hit HR as well as A-Rod making his presence known in the WS with a rightfully reversed call HR. Andy despite a shaky 2nd pitched a gem and had a RBI single. Werth did go yard twice for the Phillies. Philly's pitching was not so good with Hamels letting up 5 earned runs after a solid start and then the bullpen an additional 3.
A win for NY tomorrow will all but seal the fate of Philly. 
Game 4 will be CC vs. Blanton

Nice of you to take a few days off on this thread while your team was down BLS. Like a true Yankee fan.
Hamels really blew last night, don't know whats wrong with him, either mental, injury, worn down, or something else but he's been pretty average at best all year. Phils are just hitting bad. Howard needs a monster game tonight. Still winable though. All the Yankees did was take back home field advantage, so it's right where it should be. CC's pitching on only 3 days rest in a stadium he's bad in, Blanton hasn't pitched in almost 2 weeks & I think started only once or twice all postseason, could be a very interesting game to either side.
Fox sucks for putting that camera there, and MLB to. It was sticking out into the playing field! It "might" have been going out, but still, that like football or hockey putting a camera into the field of play. One things for sure, whatever decision Bud Selig makes regarding baseball you can be sure it will be the wrong one.
