Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Yeah tickets in the UK were about 40 pounds in 06
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
£37.50 plus booking fee for the UK shows. I suppose the pound was stronger then, it used to be roughly 2 dollars to a pound - at some point this year or last year a quid wasnt worth much more than a dollar, I suppose things have improved a bit though. I was thinking it cost him about 70 knicker for his ticket, but it sounds like its just average.
How these fuckers like the Rolling Stones get away with charging £100 for a ticket I dont know. I think their awesome but I could never afford to see one of their concerts.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
thats pretty normal for a band of that big of name around here
i paided $94 or something in 2006...still not sure if i wanna commit to that cost again...still its only +/- 40lbs for you UK peeps using GBP
I'm really sorry but, Stop!
Paided isnt a word ( little mistake I know, I'm jesting )
But dude, 40lbs? Really?
Thats only ever used when speaking of a weight, not pounds as in, Pounds Sterling £££.
Just saying hee heeee :peace:
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
GNR fans who buy tickets are the luckiest concertgoers in history because the shows never sell out. 100 bucks is a bargain considering the fact it would be triple that(or more) if a scalper ever got their hands on the tickets.
When MIA tours and you don't buy the $25 ticket on the first day, you wind up paying $150-$300 a ticket depending on the scalper site.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
thats with a wind chill though and most likely in the praries...it doesnt get that cold in ontario...may -30 or so with windchill
Alberta is much colder than Ontario though on a regular basis but yeah -40 celcius normally doesn't happen unless there's the windchill factor. Last winter we hit a stretch where it was like -47 degrees celcius with the wind.
I used to live up in the Yukon and one year I came back down to Alberta for Christmas. The day I left the Yukon it was -54 degrees celcius with zero wind. I got to Alberta and it was like -15 degrees celcius plus a windchill and belive me Alberta felt WAY colder. The wind kills.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
Just bought my tix for Ottawa
I think this is the most I have ever spent on tix before...roughly $100 per ticket...
Not to go all U2 fan boy on you guys but $100 for a GN'R show right now is a fucking ripoff. They're stage production and show doesn't warrent that. U2's current tour is averageing $100 per ticket with floor seats going for $55-$75 and nosebleeds going for $35. This isn't a slag on Gn'R this is a slag on all bands. There's no way a Gn'R ticket in 2009 should cost as much or more than a U2 ticket simply based on stage production. I find it strange.
Re: GNR tour dates in Canada?
I agree ticket prices are out of control, but $100 is about average. At least for the shows I've gone too in the past 4 years or so. The only show I saw for way less was this summer, Def Leppard, Poison, Cheap Trick. Those tickets were $32, lawn seats. U2 may have more reasonable prices because they're playing stadiums aren't they? I mean, they sell a lot more tickets in a stadium than in an arena.

That is true but their stage show costs roughly $900 000. 00 per night to put on. Their ticket prices are slightly justified. Not sure how all these other bands are justifying the $100+ charges. I saw Bon Jovi in 2007 and his stage production was next to nothing. Some lights and that it's yet I paid $120 for it. Makes no sense to me. But yeah $80-$100 seems to be the norm regardless of production or band popularity.,
