i've been taking her out at night and then try to get her to calm down before she goes back to sleep...but i think i'm doin it wrong....she's rarin to go @ 2:00 am and i'm just like go to fuckin sleep also wondering if i should crate her at night and then when she whines take her out i dunno
Re: the puppy thread
see what's really pissin me off about it all is that from what i read you take the dog out for a shit after it wakes up, and most dogs will deficate 3-5 minutes after waking, but all mine does is piss cuz she knows she's gonna get the treats then she sits there and tries to eat grass or my garden plants for 15 minutes until i take her in ... then she shits on the floor as soon as i turn my back
Re: the puppy thread
Our puppy has never been took out in the middle of the night, she gets one last trip out at night and then its bedtime. They need to learn the routine, it'll seem like a slow process but you'll be there before you know it.
Our dog is more likely to shit after a meal, but not always. I have her out down the park quite a few times lately and she has only shit once while out with me.
If she is whining at night its because she thinks she is alone or wants out the pen. Is she in a room alone?
She is only young and has to learn everything but within a few weeks things will be much easier.
Usually you can spot that they need the toilet cause they start moving around, sniffing the ground.
Re: the puppy thread
yeah shes in the kitchen with a baby gate, her open crate and some puppy pads, i have a wood trolley she chewed that a bit so my wife will bitch when she finds out...anyway she didnt poop all night and this morning she let one go outside so that was good...i didnt take her out last night...i got her in the crate right now cuz ineed to get ready for work and she's whining alot but yesterday she pooped and peed while out of the crate during ready time, so i'm takin a differernt approach today
Re: the puppy thread
k question about toys...
i was recommended to buy a puppy kong for the mutt...and its been a total of 5 days and there is already tears in it...so obviously i was given crap info...anyway i'm gonna get the full fledged kong (med sized) but is that normal for a pup to destroy a toy like that? i thought kongs were supposed to be indestructable
next is a scented nylon bone...someone told me today that the puppy could get sick if it breaks off a peice and swallows it...has anyone ever heard of that before?
i got a kong ball around here somewhere one of the kids lost it
and then i got a rope for her to tug and chew on and stuff...anything else that is essential?
is it too early for pig ears? i know its too early for rawhide
Re: the puppy thread
My pup has went through 3 harnesses and 4 leashes since september, chewed through them all. A few toys have bit the bullet too, and she has eaten stones, plant pots and god knows what else. Its tough, they are high maintenance at first and it was a shock to see just how much looking after they need. I'm used to cats and as kittens they were so easy to care for, even going out leaving them alone is no biggie. Pups are nuts though
I wasnt prepared for how fast they grow either, literally every morning she looks bigger than the day before. A bit disapointed actually, I was hoping she'd stay small and cute for a bit longer than a couple of weeks.
Re: the puppy thread
yeha i cant wait to be able to take her for walks and stuff...and to get her trained...3 more weeks until classes start for her, 2 more weeks for the next round of immunization shots
we've taken to crating her more often and surprisingly yesterday she only had two accidents, but this morning she peed and pooped outside
