Dave using the "Axl/Baz excuse".
I'm starting to sense a pattern...

So what are you saying is the cause?

The thing is Megadeth's new album has been acclaimed by most crtitics and fans alike to be amongst their best work, and certainly far superior to the last several albums.

Many fans, including myself are reporting that live, the new lineup, featuring Chris Broderick, is the most impressive since Marty left and a full return to form. Obviously my opinion doesn't matter, but my point is there's a bit of buzz amongst the fanbase...and the hardrock/metal world I'd have thought.

Furthermore, Megadeth does a lot from a 'new' industry perspective too, they have a strongline presence, communicate and interact frequently with fans, and even gave away the first single "Headcrusher" from the album free on the site.

So it's not like Dave is stuck in a 1980s industry mindset.

I think in this case the record label has quite simply droped the ball in the usa and other markets. Either that or people just don't buy CDs anymore regardless of the quality of the record.

CD got high marks too critically.

I just see alot of 80's has been's starting to beat the same drum about the U.S. division of promo for the label, not promoting them properly.

Maybe they're all telling the truth... I dunno... but it's starting to become a common excuse.

Oh, so if a record is a "masterpiece" it has to sell millions and millions of copies?

Noted!
