As far as AFD goes, the old members said years ago how they split that album's credits. Not shocking to see all 5 get individual credits. Same thing was done with Lies, although the band never stated that. Where it starts getting murky is with UYI.
Now that we are seeing the real credits(why did it take so long?), we see that the core group of the UYI sessions was Axl, Izzy, Slash, and Duff. It isn't really that shocking since most of UYI dates back to the AFD days. What is shocking is how the illusion was put in place that each band member brought their own songs to the table. This is represented on the album's liner notes, but not with ASCAP.
Sorum and Dizzy are not included in any of these credits.

I guess on UYI they just put who came up with the song and on ASCAP everyone gets credit for whatever parts they added or whatever ideas they used to edit the song.
For instance. If I come in with a song and its basically the finished product but Lofton adds a guitar solo and Axlin changes a few of my lyrics to make them better, they may get ASCAP credit but on the album, it may just be credited to me since I wrote the actual "Song"
The song may not have been as good in its original form but still yet considered most of the heavy lifting and idea etc

These ASCAP statistics may call into question his actual skills as a songwriter.
How? Then we might as well doubt anyone's song writing abilities.
We know that songs that are solely credited to Axl had the lyrics and (at least) a basic structure written by him.
You can't write and play every single instrument yourself.

I remember I got run pretty hard on mygnr for bringing up how Axl could get the sole credit for November Rain when one of the most memorable parts and a part that added great emotional and melodic intensity to the song was Slash's solo. Looks like ASCAP agrees with me...
