Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D
Twisted Pictures is becoming the house of multiple sharp objects as the makers of the Saw series are closing a deal to take over the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, putting the villains Leatherface and Jigsaw under one roof. The details are slim, but Leatherface could be returning in 3D. More soon. Read on for the rest of the story and tell us what you think below.
Sources said the producer/financier is in talks to partner in the films with Lionsgate, which has distributed all the pics in the highly profitable "Saw" series, including the Oct. 23 release of "Saw VI."
The plan is to contemporize the storyline for a 3D film that would be scripted by Stephen Susco ("The Grudge"). Carl Mazzocone, Mark Burg and Oren Koules will be the producers.
The series had been launched at New Line with a remake and a prequel produced by Platinum Dunes, the genre company run by Michael Bay, Brad Fuller and Andrew Form.
Deals had been made on a per-pic basis with "Chainsaw" rights-holders Bob Kuhn and Kim Henkel, the latter of whom wrote the original 1974 pic with director Tobe Hooper. Talks fell apart with Platinum Dunes. The Twisted Pictures deal is for multiple films, sources said.
The franchise is bloody big business: The 2003 remake cost $9.5 million and grossed $110 million worldwide. The 2006 prequel didn't do as well but still grossed $55 million on a $13 million budget.
The Platinum Dunes team, which just made a first-look deal at Paramount, still is aligned with a pair of iconic psycho murderers: After reintroducing Jason Voorhees in 2009's "Friday the 13th," they are relaunching Freddy Krueger (played by Jackie Earle Haley) in a new "A Nightmare on Elm Street."

This is getting absurd. Looks like 2010 is going to be the year of 3D horror.
Only thing interesting about this is the switch to Twisted, but then they have to ruin that by going with a 3D angle.
Might be a reboot though with them leaving Platinum.
I'll wait awhile to pass judgment.

Re: Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D
First it is the era of the remakes now the era of 3-d.
Judging from the former, it doesn't look good.
By the way I watched the Children of the Corn remake tonight...horrible.
Where has creativity and NEW (good) IDEAS went?

I'm waiting for the remakes of the remakes, which will be in 3D.

Glad I missed it.

We're entering another 'dark age' of horror just like the one in the early/mid 90s. Actually, we're already in it but people are still paying to see this tripe in theaters so it doesn't look too bad yet.
Wait until a few of these big films bomb. The 90s dark age was sparked by the public's apathy towards the 80s slasher trend, and this one will take place over remakes and the lack of good independent horror.
Zombieween 2 left a very shitty taste in my mouth. I still taste it. I have yet to see FD4 and Sorority Row, and they've been out for weeks and I was previously looking forward to both. I'll probably just download those on torrents.
The backlash was a long time coming. I have spent the past few years digging through foreign films to get my horror fix. Yeah I do watch american horror flicks, but not nearly as many as I used to. I welcome a dark age to be honest. It needs to die off for awhile so the mediocrity and lack of original thought can be purged from its system.

Wait a minute... there's a Children of the Corn remake?
Straight to video...imagine that!
It's really horrible man, seriously.
ALL the sequels are masterpieces compared to this piece of crap.
VERY RARE you'll see a straight to video release that is good, only Trick 'r Treat comes to mind and that is because Warner are apparently idiots. They would have made a fortune with this movie at the box office.
