Will 'Friday the 13th Part 2' Be Filmed in 3D?
According to Box Office Mojo, Warner Bros. Pictures is planning on shooting Friday the 13th Part 2 in 3D. They also confirm the planned release date of August 13, 2010. Who would have thought we'd make it the 13th Friday and that it would be in 3D? No other details are revealed about Jason Voorhees' forthcoming sequel other than that the opening is said to take place in the winter with snow on the ground. Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, who wrote this year's remake, are penning the sequel.

These franchises are about to be ruined with the 3D gimmick. The main weakness of 3D films is it becomes about the gimmick and not the story.
I hated the remake so will be avoiding this 3D or no 3D, but it sucks that it had to turn out this way.
I wish F13 would do another quick reboot instead of a sequel to the remake.
ONLY thing I like about this is the fact they are finally caving to fanboy/girl wishes of a winter setting. Should have been done 20 years ago.

Yeah the winter setting is interesting.
But we kinda sorta got that with Freddy vs. Jason. Obviously BC, obviously very very cold during the shoot.
At this point, what does it matter? These films are just popcorn fun. F13(2009) was weak, so i'm hoping the gimmicky factor will turn up the camp factor. It's a friggin' Friday movie. Nobody is expecting Gone With The Wind.
Just do it for shits and giggles, and relax, and it might turn out already, and get Marcus Nispel away from the thing.
The pro that F13 has versus Halloween, is that Halloween has literally wrote itself into a corner, several times, and is currently so wrote in a corner, that Bob Weinstein doesn't know whether he wants to continue it on or not.
F13 however, is not Shakespeare. They can easily rebound from F13(2009). It doesn't take much, just basic execution. The problem with the New Line films is they made them too conceptual. Even with F13(2009) they were trying too hard to make it be like the earlier Friday's, instead of just starting with a foundation, and letting it grow into that. The problem is, they got so obsessed with look and tone and should Jason have a potato sack or hockey mask, they forgot the glaring Texas-sized plotholes throughout the film.

Well, my favorite entry in the Friday the 13th franchise was F13th pt 3 in 3-D so it is interesting from that standpoint. Unfortunately you guys are correct with the "gimmick" attachment to this.
The main weakness of 3D films is it becomes about the gimmick and not the story.
Exactly, that is where the biggest problem is. My Bloody Valentine did it, Final Destination, H3D is coming next year so now the Friday the 13th franchise is just playing suit.
The problem is these guys are looking for a fast buck. If they were using any hint of intelligence they would realize the KEY would be to revitalize these franchises with good stories, then the cash cow could keep producing much longer and with much more yield. The fast buck would live on instead of being a glimmering sensation.
Sooner or later the average members of the herd will call it quits. Ok, maybe that's pushing it, never underestimate the flock! Still yet, the rest of us will move on.
Then again if RZ's H2 can actually make money (horrid piece of shit) then ANYTHING is possible I guess.

I posted an article that says H3D has stopped pre-production, and Bob Weinstein has slammed the brakes on it. Todd Farmer has already delivered the script (yes, that quick), and right now it's looking like they may want slow it down, and look for another director, instead of Patrick Lussier.
So it may or may not be out next year or not at all.

I'm glad to hear this actually. The last I heard they had moved it from an August release to an October one. The best thing they can do to (possibly) save the franchise is forget the gimmick and work on a good story. Another RZH2 and this franchise is history.

This franchise already IS history, and they know it. They have to come out of the gate with something special next time, because they aren't just losing casuals anymore, even diehard fans are walking away from the franchise.
They should've put these things out in October again, YEARS ago.
Why they got the lame brain idea that Halloween was some sort of blockbuster Summer movie sequel concept is just bizarre.
