I'm getting a male Pyrenean Mastiff in a few weeks.

This has actually changed since I have come to the decision that it wouldn't be fair (for the dog itself) to have such a big breed in an apartment with no personal lawn.

Instead I'm going to visit a long-coated male White Swiss Shepherd this Sunday! I'm looking forward to it.

Hopefully we'll get along so that I can pick him up in a couple of weeks.

You should look into that option, Neemo. Their temperament is different from the ordinary German Shepherd.

My old dealer had one of those, it was very placid and friendly. You'd come out his house covered in white hair though.

Get a Maltese  most playful, loving dogs, they require lots of love and they are friendly to everybody. they don't shed and are good for people with allergies.

I have three kids and two yellow Labs. I'll never get another dog. They are perfect for kids. Yes, they shed, a lot, but I've gotten used to it. I have a lot of light-colored clothes.

Age of your kids is a non-issue if you ask me.

Personally, I'd rescue a dog from a shelter. They usually are trained, usually have their shots, and they will appreciate the hell out of you for taking them hone.

That's what we did. One of Labs is about 11; the other is 5.

7 million domestic animals are destroyed in the US alone each year, so if you can take the time to find a rescue dog who suits you, and you suit the mutt, that's gotta be some good karma right there! cool22
