Patience is so friggin' boring these days.
I agree, but it was also boring back in the day as well. I can do without it, but most of the people in the audience aren't diehards like us. They will be "greatest hits " fans who will expect it and be disappointed if they don't hear it.

Is that really true any more?
I woud think the audience would consist of an even combination of die-hards and greatest hits noobs these days. Combined with the fact that gnr has a ton of hits I'd say Patience can hit the road.
It just doesn't convert to electric very well.

well, although I don't need it in the setlist, Patience is every bit as important to the Gnr catalog as Jungle, SCOM, PC and NR. It is an iconic Gnr song-no questions ask and the outro is CLASSIC Axl. I think those 5 are their biggest hits here in the States.

Kinda have to have YCBM and Night Train, too. Night Train is almost unanimously agreed to be their best performed song live.

I personally love Patience, and its outro.. in some performances, its every bit as good as any other song. When its done right of course. I dont think however, it can be done right/proper anymore.

i agree with you mickronson. i never really cared for the new gn'r versions of this song. patience was best live from 88-89 imo. 91-93 wasn't as good as 88-89 but better than 01-07. listen to tokyo 88 or even the ama's with don henley on drums in 89. the build up at the end is fuckin intense.

Unanimously or just you spouting off your own opinion? I could go without Nightrain live and on record forever...don't EVER need to hear it again.

I guess I was mistaken. I recall a thread asking what songs nugnr pull off best live, and Night Train was almost EVERYONEs pick for best old song. "almost unanimously" is probably a bit extreme, but tell me Rock Am Ring's nightrain wasn't one of the best single performances of 06 from the band.
