Re: DJ Ashba says GNR rehearses again!!

It's a bit different now, though.
And everything doesn't have to be a super conspiracy in GN'R land...
Yeah it is a little different this time around. Last time they rehearsed I think you could definitely say they were planning to tour, BUT I'm not sure how close things actually came to being signed, sealed, and delivered. We got rumblings of I know someone who works for such and such a stadium who says GNR will be playing there on such and such a date but we never got concrete dates that had newspaper and TV ads and ticket sales. I mean, I suppose everything could still fall apart, but I do think things are a little different this time around.

Re: DJ Ashba says GNR rehearses again!!
he's just too inconsistant a singer lately. (and yes i realise the depth of Axls inconsistency live, but i'm referring specifically to his singing, from song-to-song, night-to-night)
The thing is though that Axl writes music that is very challanging to play. These songs arn't easy to sing, take the "I would do anything for you" parts in TWAT, that HAS to be towards the top of his range, even for someome with a mega-huge range like Axl.
Realisticly, being able to always perfectly pitch notes at the thresholds of what's possible for your body is not going to happen, especially if they're also mixed with other difficulties, such as long notes, tough passgaes for breathing while singing etc, not to mention the obvious pressures of life of the road during a tour and fronting a massive stage show.
What this means is that inevitably his peformance isn't always going to be note perfect like the CD, but what counts is that he's still able to deliver an exciting and capitivating show. Sometimes the pieces will fall into place and he'll do it perfect, othertimes not. It's like asking an olympic athlete to run their own world record time at every track meet. Some days your body can be pushed further than others.
Axl would know the level of reheasrsal thats benifical to him, over reheasrsal might actually put additional strain on his voice and end up making his overall peformance standard drop.
What i like is that Axl does write kickass and challanging melodies and songs, and usually has the guts to get up there and hammer it out live as if it were easier than it is, and most of the time pulls it off sucessfully!

Axl will have brilliant nights and not so brilliant nights. That is how GNR has always been. They were a great live show because they were real and unpredictable. Same with Slash, sometimes Slash played like the greatest guitar player on the planet, sometimes he botched his simplest solos. I actually liked that about GNR.

I'm really hoping for the same; a CD heavy set and by that I mean exactly what you're saying. Get rid of every appearance of Anything Goes, Think About You, etc.
Oh....and I think I'm the only person on Earth who wants this, but please lose Jungle as the opener and replace it with CD.
CD opening would be very cool, but i don't want to loose Jungle all together....it could be an encore track or something...cos that scream rocks!
I guess I always like to hear YCBM, jungle, brownstone and close with PC, and I guess SCOM and NR are fixed in the setlist as they're big hits and most people will want them. But I hope they fill up the rest with chinese tracks!
