Looks like it probably was staged.
I knew it was a work the nanosecond I saw it. Didn't need MTV to tell me that, and since so many people believe it, say its real, then immediately ride the wave of the manufactured global craze, they should just stop admitting these incidents are staged.

Would like to elaborate a bit on that...
While I think we live in a moronic culture and I would rather go back to spontaneous events occurring, I can see why artists and companies do these things. In a world where there are so many avenues of entertainment and they have to fight for every dollar and viewer, fabricating these things and letting viewers turn it into a pop culture phenomenon is just pure gold for these people. It brings attention to all parties involved, which is the point.
Doesn't matter if you think Kanye is a douche and Beyonce/Taylor a saint. You're talking about them and feeding the craze.
