Was eliminated in the last round.

This is getting tough. Still sticking with Jovi though. It was massive, but other than those few monster singles, it wasn't much to write home about.

Bon Jovi then Pyromania.

To continue on from the last thread. James I had to vote off albums I wouldn't normally eliminate to keep Metalica in this longer. I don't think that's right and I don't think the way that happened last time with Soundgarden is right either. I just don't understand the logic, and it's still not been addressed properly, that you can say Puppets is better than what's left but since Metallica don't deserve their albums to go any further we should eliminate Puppets. If Metallica have wrote albums that are better than some of what's left then they do deserve to go further because they're obviously good albums.

Every album in this is "good". Hell, the INXS record Kick deserved a top 10 spot, yet was eliminated in the first round.

The logic used to eliminate Puppets isn't as flawed as you think. Let's use this hypothetical scenario as an example....

top six in a best of 2000s elimination...

Audioslave- Audioslave
GNR- Chinese Democracy
U2-How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
Green Day-American Idiot
M.I.A.-Kala
M.I.A.-Arular

I would vote off Arular even though it shits on two of those other records. Just because I think its better doesn't lessen the overall impact of the other albums on that list. I'm not going to ignore the grandiosity of American Idiot even though I don't listen to it just because I like another album of less cultural significance.

Me voting off Arular doesn't mean I hate it. It just means I feel it needs to go now and my fanboy visions live to see another day with the remaining record.

You're acting like GNR Evo is a Metallica hate club when in reality they had more nominations than anybody, and I was one of those who nominated both Puppets and Justice. They both cant win.

Re: Best Album of the 80s Elimination- Round 16

...And Justice For All is possibly the greatest record ever made.

I see no "shame" or whatever in it being in the tournament by itself instead of being together with Master of Puppets.

Oh, and I can't vote this time either. It's just too hard.

That's what I don't get. I don't get why we're voting based on cultural impact. I always figured we were voting more on what we like i.e. the albums think are bigger. Also if we're voting based on cultural impact and importance then CD shouldn't even have made the 00's list.

I liked Livin On A Prayer. I liked Bon Jovi. They were massive and just listening to that album takes me back to sixth grade. It had a huge impact on our culture, and my life at the time.

Master of Puppets didn't. Hell, I don't even think its their best album, and it sure as shit isn't one of the top 5 albums of that decade. Me choosing Puppets before Jovi shouldn't be that big of a shock.

You're acting like albums that suck make an impact and we're keeping the shit and voting off the good stuff.

It's the TOP 5 for crying out loud. Only this site and Metallica boards would expect Metallica to be top 5 all time in the 80s.

Livin' On A Prayer is on New Jersey and not on SWW, I think.

Anyway, I've been voting for the albums I like the least. Others calculate with 'cultural significance', too. It's all right. CD's winning the 00s tournament showed how subjective this game is.
