Re: Slash Begins Recording for his Solo Album
Maybe when it comes closer to being released I'll get a little more excited about it. But I could care less about reading about what a wicked guitar riff he layed down in the studio today.
I somewhat agree with what you are saying. Hearing about a killer guitar riff or something that was just layed down is a bit of a cock tease this far out from the record.
I'm casually interested to know who is going to be on it, maybe some info on tracks and styles. But until we are much closer to the release date I'm not particularly excited about it.
Hearing that yet another good session was just done and another killer guitar track was just recorded is a bit like listening to Bach bleating on about how mind blowing CD was months/years prior to us having any chance of hearing it.

Re: Slash Begins Recording for his Solo Album
I was just reading over some Chris Cornell fan boards and everyone is pumped for him playing with Slash. I'm shocked. This is much different than what I thought the reaction would be. I think the disaster (financial, critical, fan-wise) that Scream was has really made people see this more positively. I've been a huge Cornell fan since 92. And I can say he's had some of THE most pretentious, snobbish fans of anyone out there. Maybe Scream was a good move in a totally unintentional way. Especially if he has a hit with Slash.
A couple years ago I could have seen people up in arms about this. But I couldn't find a negative comment. Even saw some wanting him to join VR for at least one album. That made my jaw drop. I wonder if this could push Chris into doing something more with Slash... or at least another kick ass rock album. Like I said, it'll be interesting if their song is a hit or very well received.
They're mostly hyped about what I am... Flea, Slash, Cornell and Freese playing together. I would want a band or some kind of project come from that group a million times more than Chris joining VR. Freese is away from NIN. RHCP is on a very long hiatus. And we know the status of VR...Hmm...*dreams*
