no offence faldor but thought provoking isn't the style of show it was. It was a social ettiquite comedy ala seinfeld but less clever, relying on some funny peformances, stereotypes and charactatures...it's basicly a good times feel good show....if it had ended with anything other than a cliche happy ending most of the fans would have been upset.

Dallas eliminated by Friends.... shame people, shame.

It ran for 10 years, the last ever episode in the US was watched by over 52 million people. It wasn't that bad.

It wasn't the worst show ever made. No. But it will be forgotton.

Dallas did things for the standard TV drama. Things that sculpted television's future.

Seinfeld did things for the standard TV sitcom. Things that sculpted television's future.

They also were ratings smashes for MANY years.

Friends was just popular. Nothing more. People liked the characters. They enjoyed watching them, and that's cool. Sometimes characters can make a really lousy show (Friends) watchable, and it did. Lisa Kudrow & Matthew Perry were both stand outs imo for the series.

Both Dallas & Seinfeld were also growers as series, that earned and found their audiences, through quality. Friends was a TOTAL hype job by NBC, and done VERY well I might add.

Friends = the KISS of television shows

That's why I don't like the show.

Twilight Zone's loss was the big shocker, but yeah this was a doozy. Every show I thought had a chance at winning is gone.

Seinfeld, Cheers, Wonder Years, Twilight Zone.  All great shows gone way too early.  Looks like The Simpsons is gonna win it all, if the recent landslide victory over The Sopranos is any indication.  There are some shows that have no business being in the running still though in my mind, and far too many are gone that still deserve a shot.

Miami Vice, The Shield, Rescue Me, Deadwood & 24 were also taken out in the first round. I at least thought they would've made it to Round 2.

The Muppets is still in it because it's not face any real competition yet. I don't see it going any further unless it goes up against something like Flinstones.
