it didnt really paint axl in any light... it was more of a documentation of the breakdown of a relationship...said just as many good things as bad things about Axl

That's easy to say when you're an impartial party to the situation.  Axl may take offense to some of the things Slash said, and rightfully so.  With all the stuff he said about Slash I'd tend to think a lot more people read Slash's book and HIS side of the story.  Any good things Slash may have said about Axl were quickly diffused with blame for breaking up the band, etc.

If GNRevolution folded tomorrow and James Lofton wrote a tell all book saying how Neemo was a great guy but he was the reason GNRevo broke apart, among other things, would you thank James for saying you're a good guy or would you harp on the negative?  I think it's quite clear why Axl wasn't pleased with Slash's book overall.

Yeah I was gonna reference RoV, but I don't really know what happened there.  I just know I posted there, then all of a sudden I got an e-mail saying there was a temporary site, then it just kind of disappeared till GNRevo.

I'd show up to Neemo's workplace in my "Where's James?" shirt big_smile

Neemo: Security! Get that guy out of here. That guy right there there. Gone! Hand me that shirt!

To be fair to Slash though I didn't really think his book was a "tell all" style book...i thought he covered his fall out with Axl reasonably well in that he told how the situation seemed from his perspective and what his own motivation was for his actions. But he also said a lot of positive stuff about Axl and GNR in general i thought. If he had intended to bash Axl alone, it could have been far far nastier.

I agree. It could've been ALOT nastier. The only time I think he really made Axl look bad, was creating up the idea that Slash was blocking Axl from getting fired by potential managers during the early days by running interference, which made Axl look like a big diva. The thing is, to Axl, he felt he was the one keeping Slash in the band, because everyone wanted to fire Slash for his substance abuse issues.

The other, was when Slash OD'ed around '92, and Axl told him "I thought I might have to find another guitarist", which made Slash totally snap out of it, and really changed Slash's perception of Axl from that point forward. The thing is, I think it was an innocent comment from Axl, that REALLY rubbed Slash the wrong way, and really changed their relationship forever from that point forward. It was business all the way through, no doubt.

That was the worst.

Yeah I know... not really all that bad.

Hell it made Izzy look worse, nuttin' all over his leg... fucking EW dude.

Yeah...that's the thing...I think at the end of this mess part of what everyone says is true.....i'm sure when Axl got upset, started shows late, kept getting arrested and so on that some people asked some questions, likewise...when Slash's drugs get in the way of him functioning well in the band or indeed his own health (he has a pacemaker for fuck's sake) , people wonder what could be done. It's part of the business side of music I guess. There's always been a lot of dynamics in GNR. It's what made it kickass, but also what led to the breakup of the original band.

Izzy jizzing on Slash's leg is what ultimately caused the band to break up.

VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash has posted a new audio blog via SayNow — a service that enables celebrities to connect to their audience over the phone. Listen to it below.

Slash tracked his new solo record with former NINE INCH NAILS drummer Josh Freese and ex-JANE'S ADDICTION bassist Chris Chaney. Confirmed guest singers so far include Ozzy Osbourne and AVENGED SEVENFOLD's M. Shadows. The CD was produced by Eric Valentine (GOOD CHARLOTTE, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE) and features additional appearances by ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler and RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea. Freese told MusicRadar.com that Iggy Pop, Fergie (a.k.a. Stacy Ann Ferguson) of the BLACK EYED PEAS and Chris Cornell (SOUNDGARDEN, AUDIOSLAVE) will also appear on the LP. Working songtitles include "We're All Gonna Die", "These Last Words", "Crucify The Dead" and "Beautiful, Dangerous".

Slash left GUNS N' ROSES in the mid-'90s, forming SLASH'S SNAKEPIT before later assembling VELVET REVOLVER with several other ex-members of GUNS N' ROSES and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland (who was dismissed in April 2008).
