Very true. I know libertad had a lot of scott type songs, but in amongst them is some classic slash vibe...I dont get why people dont at least like the rockier tunes...Let It Roll is a really fun song
I think Just 16 is a pretty good rock song too (musically). My wife even likes Gas and a Dollar a Laugh. I think Dave's sound doesn't mesh well with Slash's tone and adding to that being buried in the mix and it would certainly lead people to believe Libertad was not a good album musically...especially if you only give it a couple listens. It took awhile to grow on me too, but once I heard it through headphones (and the GH III tracks) I was able to appreciate the songs more.
Re: Slash Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter updates
I actually liked Libertad, didn't love it, but it was a decent album. Although it was a step backward from Contraband in my opinion. I wish they could've stuck together with Scott to see if they could've rebounded, but if things were THAT bad I guess all parties are better off apart.

Re: Slash Myspace, Facebook, and Twitter updates
Yeah Just 16 is also a pretty good track, lots of cool guitar kind of hidden in that one. One thing I thought about VR overall is that the studio recordings didn't properly capture how cool the guitar parts are.
Contraband has some good stuff going on, but the mix is pretty terrible, and I remember seeing them live a few times, and slash was ripping out those parts (and also add libbing a little too) and it really made it like 3 or 4 times cooler on guitar than just listening to the CD is.
Unfortunately VR cancelled their Aussie libertad tour, but I strongly felt the live boots from the last shows suggested the same effect would have taken place. Let it Roll and Just 16 and a couple of other tracks were really starting to rock...

weekly update
Hey all, hope you're all good. I'm long between blogs, I know.
Anyway, I don't know how I'm supposed to wait until next year to put out this record! It is so fucking cool & I am so anxious to get it out already. We start mixing soon & that will be that, ready to go. But, I have to wait, there's no way around it, for all kinds of logistic reasons & that's the reality.
But, my VR bandmates & I had a meeting a couple of weeks ago & although the search for a singer will continue, I am going to tour on my solo record most likely thru next summer starting in March or April. We (VR) will keep the word of mouth system going & listening to submissions from singers & checking out different singer's sites etc, we know the right guy is out there somewhere. It's possible somebody could turn up before I do my tour & we could start working on new material sooner than later, in a perfect world.
As far as my tour is concerned, I have already started to put together ideas for a kickass band & the plan is to perform some new stuff, Snakepit, VR & Guns stuff. The new album is really great & deserves that I should support it. Plus, I'm really looking forward to getting out there & doing some gigs, its been more than a year since I was on a proper tour & all these one off jams are basically just a tease.
So, there's the update for now, I'm still tinkering away on the solo record but there really isn't much left to do on it but mix it, which starts in September.
Cool, Take care, talk to you soon,
Slash

SlashHudson - I saw some killer footage of GNR from the late 80's/early 90's today, one of rock's greatest R & R bands, definitely. #fb

SlashHudson - I meant that in the most humble way of course. It was a really kick ass band though. #fb

Too bad he didn't mention what footage he saw to bring him into a temporary nostalgia mode.

All the improv blues jams are just so killer..... As were songs like "move to the city" live or Double Talkin Jive, Solo, Civil War.... So many "epic" moments to chose from. Def. one of the greatest rock bands EVER.
