I think pretty much everything Oasis did in the 90s was top notch
i think everythign they did was crap
that nirvana unplugged performance was top notch, but it only captured a snapshot at the very end
Re: And the winner is...........
Agree with Buzz. Oasis is okay, but not near the groundbreaking band they are made out to be. Neither is Radiohead.
As for Unplugged, that Nirvana one is amazing, and chilling in retrospect, it ended up being Kurt's swan song. BUT, in fairness, I think the Alice In Chains one is better, and in a sense, it ended up being Layne's swan song too.
Re: And the winner is...........
its amazing that Layne was even able to get it together to do that show...but yeah AIC was proilly the best followed by Nirvana and STP....PJ was really good too
Yeah all those were great. They should bring back Unplugged, with legit bands. It got too cluttered and artists that had no business being on the show were doing it. I may be setting myself up for this with that last comment, but how great would it be for GNR to do an episode of Unplugged featuring the material from Chinese Democracy in front of an intimate crowd of hardcore fans?

The reason I think the Nirvana one is so good is that they screwed with arrangements, and instrumentation and such.
Alice In Chains had a ton of songs tailor made for the format.
I don't take anything away from the AIC performance, because it's great, but I think the Nirvana one is one of the best because of how they approached it.
I'm also in the boat with a few other people who said the don't really care for Nirvana otherwise.

Oasis was NEVER made out to be groundbreaking. The Beatles infulence is hugely documenetd and admited by Noel all the time. Oasis was made out to be a kick ass rock band and they are. Not sure where this groundbreaking thought process is coming from. Oasis has a ton of real kickass songs. I get that some people don't like them but don't dislike them based off something that isn't even true.
