WOW. A huge loss. Literally one of the icons of the 80s. Like with MJ,  80s culture literally does not exist without this man.

Vacation (writer)
Sixteen Candles (writer/director/producer)
The Breakfast Club (writer/director/producer)
Weird Science (writer/director/producer)
Ferris Bueller's Day Off (writer/director/producer)
Planes, Trains & Automobiles (writer/director/producer)
Uncle Buck (writer/director/producer)

Those movies are pure gold.

Isn't Stern also on holiday again? This stuff always happens when he's away.

Howard Stern? That's what you get from this? Man, you've got some movies you need to watch. That should have been the last thing to enter your mind.

James, I think there's a wierd jinx that every time Stern goes on vacation someone famous died. I may be wrong but I think it might have happened with MJ, & probably someone last year. Axl S or Tommie can probably fill us in on who the list of stars are. If you goto the Howard Stern thread someone actually posted a few days ago "Uh-oh Howards going on vacation.. Celebreties must be getting nervous"  (as in, they might be the next one)

Christmas Vacation has become a staple of my holiday viewing, up there with Rudolph, It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Story and Elf. In fact, it's usually the only one we watch twice: Once early in the season then again on Xmas eve as we're wrapping presents.

All of his movies have something to offer. Damn shame.

Agreed.

For nearly the last 20 years at our house, required viewing at Christmas - Christmas Vacation & Home Alone.

Required viewing at Thanksgiving - Planes, Trains & Automobiles.

All Hughes films. hmm

Hopefully some of those scripts he's got hidden away when he became a recluse will see the light of day.

A part of my childhood just died.

2009 really sucks.

Exactly, whenever he goes on vacation, B / C list celebrities die.  I'm trying to find a list for you guys, but no luck so far.

I've seen Feris and Christmas Vacation. I was more like whoa another guy died and then I remembered from the Stern thread and thought it was just a really strange coincidence.

EDIT: Also seen Planes, Trains and Automobiles just didn't realise that was his. I enjoyed all those films.

After looking on SFN I've found:

Isaac Hayes
Bernie Mac
MJ
Farrah Fawcett
Heath Ledger

I"m sure I'll find more, gimme a few days.

Haven't followed Stern in years.

Just thought it was an odd thing to say in a thread about the death of an 80s icon.
