See that's what got me thinking. Purple Rain is both an album and a soundtrack but more an album if that makes any sense. But on the other hand, you have soundtracks like Footloose, The Breakfast Club and The Big Chill that are more like actual soundtracks so I didn't know if any of them qualified.
Ahh good point. Axlin08 got a few of those original composition soundtracks in his list that James was referencing. Its all good

Yeah, imo you could do an entire montage of the 1980s from beginning to end on the BTTF score.
It really is a timeless score, that at the same time totally captures the bigger than life score for the time it was composed. Part II's is even more grandiose.
