Re: Advised Listening Thread
Use this thread to advise Bands and Artists you think the folks might like. Maybe post a link to some songs and name a few choice albums. Ill kick off with some Tom Waits.
Lofton this first one is for you. Progressive experimental hip hop. The song Filipino box spring hog form Mule Variations.
(Just hit the play button beside the original tom waits version. its the one that has blogged on april 10th written over it ad a thumbnail of a cat)

Isis. I just love this band, there last album was ok but not as good as their previouss efforts, these 3 songs are from their 2nd last album called "In The Absence Of Truth"
There is a video for this but its a shorter edit and kills the glorious build up to the crecendo in the middle of the song, so this is the full version.

Excuse the shoddy video but its got the best audio I could find:
If your going to listen to them you really have to listen to each song all the way through, they kind of take you on a trip. If you skip through it you might miss something good.
Perhaps my favourite album this decade

I do like it, been listening to it a lot when i go out running. I just havnt listened to it whilst under the influence of the herb, like I did with the other albums, to really fall under its sway 
Isis is great driving music for long journeys, you just melt into it.

Yes, I have Damnation and Deliverance, but you know I've never really gave them much of a chance. I liked what I heard but the albums just took up residence of my shelf and were largely forgotten, I'll have to give them a serious listen again cause know they are a solid band.
I was thinking about them the other day because Opeth and Dream Theatre are coming to Scotland for a concert and since I've deprived myself of some good concerts this year I want to go. I've heard good things about Dream Theatre but dont know their material, so if anyone wants to through up some of their best songs I'm listening.
For Isis you should check out Oceanic, Panopticon, In The Absence of Truth and Wavering Radient.
