Re: Best Album of the 00s elimination- Final Round
In typical final rounds, you vote for your favorite. To keep things steady and to avoid confusion, we'll continue as is. Vote off your LEAST favorite of the two.
This has been a solid elimination with a few twists and turns along the way. Thanks to all who participated, and hopefully you lurkers were biting your nails wondering what was gonna happen next. The dominance of Willy Wonka in our Movie Madness and Buckethead surviving round after round showed that even the impossible can happen at GNR Evolution.
Later this week we will kick off our 'Best album of the 1990s' elimination, and I have a feeling that one will be even more unpredictable than this one.

Re: Best Album of the 00s elimination- Final Round
I vote off Chinese Democracy without hesitation. Its a good album. A damn good album. It had an amazing run in this elimination, and even though this is a GNR site, I'm surprised it made it this far. Just goes to show that even though some like to think of this place as nothing but "whiners", "haters", and "complainers", people here do generally like this record.
While Chinese Democracy is full of ups and downs and delivers several doses of brilliance in parts, it is lacking everything that this Audioslave record is full of......
A swift kick in the ass that hard rock fans expect. Cornell is touching on some similar themes on this record, yet doesn't feel the need to drown himself in cheese, outdated trends, and hip hop beats lifted from Fat Boys records. The album sounds just as amazing(if not more so) as the day it was released, and not even a year later, you cant say the same thing for Chinese Democracy.
Cornell for the win...

Re: Best Album of the 00s elimination- Final Round
Although I'm not a huge fan of CD and the album isn't in my Top 20 of the decade, I enjoy it more than the Audioslave album. So I vote off the latter.

I love the Audioslave cd, and no doubt its one of the best from the past decade, but I have to vote it off.
IMO, Chinese Democracy is the best album released this decade.
Re: Best Album of the 00s elimination- Final Round
audioslave is everything chinese democracy is not....
in some ways that's bad...
in MOST ways.. it's very, very good..
audioslave is everything we wanted chinese democracy to be... epic, catchy... perfect... yet simple and to the point. when they announced that cornell was doin' shit with the boys from rage, i spent two solid weeks listening to RATM and soundgarden trying to figure out how the fuck it was gonna sound...
there was NO way it wasn't going to sound like a complete clusterfuck... "is cornell gonna rap?"...
the first time i heard "cochise".... chopped my fucking head off..
then i bought the album... cochise again decapitated me...then SMHTL...
even better.. and as the cd kept playing, i noticed that there were NO bad songs on the thing.... not one. the marriage of rage and soundgarden was a perfect match...
(at least for one album)
definitely the best album of the decade...
chinese democracy... the opposite of that... i had all these expectations of perfection, and what i got was a series of sonic clusterfucks... great songs... but with entirely too much going on at once... i'll always love CD...if only for the memory of the journey...but the light at the end of that tunnel was a train..
i expect CD to win...because of the obvious advantage it has here.... and that's too bad... it's not the best album of the decade... not even close...
Re: Best Album of the 00s elimination- Final Round
CD was by far the best album of the 2000's, so far.
As much as I like the album, I think that's a comment of how absurdly WEAK the 2000's were in terms of musical achievement. The best albums were done by artists who's prime were in other decades.
