The more I think about this, it makes me wonder how the people who DON"T like this show talk about it.

Just look at how those of us who admit to liking it are talking about it.

I don't think it paints nerds in a bad light at all. The nerd that was offended just doesn't see deeper into the show.

It's in fact praising nerds. Howard and the indian dude (can't recall his name) are typical guys underneath their nerd layer. Howard is a wannabe ladies man (every group of guys has one), and the indian guy is the shy one, who when drunk, turns into Hugh Hefner, which I think comments on the normality of someone who's "cold" when sober, but becomes the party guy when drunk, like alot of guys.

And the Leonard & Sheldon characters are actual praises of nerds imo. Sheldon is extremely intelligent to an arrogant degree, and does have a bit of OCD, can't really live without his friends and family whether he admits to it or not. And Leonard is a good, honest, trustworthy guy underneath that nerd layer, that they basically portray to be the good male hero of the show, while they continually point the finger at the vanity with well fit and/or good looking men, as being dumb and self-absorbed with alot of Penny's here and there boyfriends.

I think you've just got to see the subtext in the characters.

this is my favorite show at the moment and it might be my favorite show ever. they signed a two year contract at the end of season 2 and the audience ratings were rising compared to the first season.

i think jim parsons (sheldon) is awesome in his role and without him the show would not be that funny. he'll be announcing the nominations for the emmys this year and i hope he gets to be nominated too.

i don't care if it's not very well written, it makes me laugh and i've been watching both seasons twice already, the next season can't come soon enough.

Considering the fact that Leonard and Penny (see above), have shared a bed together (Season 2), I think it paints them PRETTY POSITIVELY.
