Re: Michael Jackson's This Is It Discussion
He performs as I expected. No one in their right mind would think that he did all those reharsals if he wasn't at least a bit in shape.
He's alright...very thin..a bit older..not like when he was in his 30's..but no one is.
I'd say as Axl S...a very unfortenate overdose of something...or mixtures of something gone wrong...like a plane crash...one failure is fine..nothing to worry about...but when you get several failures, bad luck and human error on top..it goes wrong.
I'm looking at some interviews and I have to admit this upsets me. Not only was I a MJ fan from the age of 12..but his whole character was such a tragedy.
Re: Michael Jackson's This Is It Discussion
He looked fine to me in that clip. Nothing too strenuous there, but he certainly didn't look near death. Unfortunately it seemed like his death was inevitable, meaning it was only a matter of time unless he sought out help for his addiction. This may seem callous, but I just wish he could've given the world one last great ride off into the sunset and completed the tour before he left us.
I was in shock when I heard of his death last week. I was at work with my bosses so I didn't have time to check the internet or anything, then we went out to dinner and I had a 2 hour ride home so I didn't get home till 10pm or so when I found out. It really didn't sink in until the next day. That was an emotional day, seeing Janet come out at the BET awards was a bit painful, and hearing songs like "Man in The Mirror", "Human Nature", and "Scream" (because of the collaboration with his sister) got to me at times. It's just so sad. John Landis summed it up well on Larry King earlier this week when he said he lived a tragic life. Larry asked him to explain and he said that Michael lived a painful life and there was NO reason that he should be dead right now.
Here's that clip, he explains it better than I can towards the end if you want to fast forward
Re: Michael Jackson's This Is It Discussion
He's in bad shape. Everyone that's running around with 'vintage' Michael right now are full of crap.
He looked frail, slow, and exhausted. This guy would've had to cancel shows only 5-10 dates in. With THAT said...
He did not look AT ALL near death. He looked really no different than he has in the past decade really.
The nice thing, is to see final moments of him - on stage. That is very cool.

Yeah I noticed that too. Guess that setlist wasn't up to snuff.

That's tough to call after watching 1:30 of a performance. Who's to say he wasn't moonwalking and jumping around liike a mad man at other parts of the rehearsal? It's not like he was standing there doing nothing and all the dancers were running circles around him. It was obviously choreographed that way. I bet you could take a minute plus snippet from a performance of his with Slash and he'd look similar. I don't necessarily disagree with you that he would've been exhausted doing 50 shows, but it's tough to make that call with only a minute of footage. The fact that he died of an apparent overdose because he was exhausted and tired is more of an indication than that 1 minute video.
Re: Michael Jackson's This Is It Discussion
EDIT:
I'm editting this because I think I came off very defensive in this post, mostly because I had to do a lot of research about this topic once. So, no offense meant, bro.
I wasn't even online the past day and a half or so(insert net junkie going through withdrawal joke here), so I didn't see the original post.
As far as you offending me, even in heated discussion I try not to take any of it personally. I've known you on these sites for years, and as long as personal insults are not used, there's zero chance of me being offended.
I realize its a polarizing issue, much like politics. Hell, me and pasnow had some doozy debates last year during the election, and we're still on speaking terms.
This also basically comes down to who you believe in the Mj case, and I believe him, and I refuse to accept the opinions of books and documentaries from people who have a vested interest in making Michael a monster. And they do slant their work to serve that purpose. Even Bashir's had some slimy editting moments, even though Michael looked really bad in it with no help from Bashir... And like a famous documentary filmmaker once said, they can make you think whatever they want. Because they have an editting room.
I do agree that its basically "he said, she said" shit and we'll likely never know the whole truth.
If you wont accept books and documentaries as an avenue for facts, what do you use? Every single book or documentary in existence is going to be slanted one way or the other. You just have to soak all the info in and come to your own conclusions. Not just regarding MJ either, but on every subject.
That's one reason I recommended that specific documentary. It gives you one of the different viewpoints on the case. No one expects it to be 100% true, just like no one should expect Jackson's comments to be 100% true, or that other documentary.
The truth is somewhere in the middle.
I should have never added what the mother said, because it had nothing to do with why I think it was all an extortion attempt. I added it on there as a last point. If her character is an issue, then my apologies, forget it. The fact is none of what I mentioned came from her. The father did get the kid to "remember" the abuse after pulling his tooth and giving him a sedative that psychiatrists have said is known for being used to coerce people and leaves them vulnerable to suggestion. He WAS caught on tape talking about extorting Michael and not caring what affect this would have on his son, caring only about the money. And the boys descriptions of Michael's genitals were wrong. The DA said there were similarities because he described the skin on Michael's body as being splotchy, which isn't exactly a home run.
I don't remember enough about that first case to really offer a rebuttal to this. I do remember his comments caught on tape, but not the tooth extraction incident. Was the main reason I watched that doc was hoping for more details that I either hadn't heard or didn't remember. Since the media is trying to paint him as a saint following his death, we simply aren't getting any details. I'm probably gonna have to find a book on the case, or search for some article that goes in depth.
And I know what you're quoting very well...
In a study of 1,713 people arrested for the possession of child pornography in a 1-year period, the possessors ran the gamut in terms of income, education level, marital status, and age. Virtually all of those who were arrested were men, 91% were white, and most were unmarried at the time of their crime, either because they had never married (41%) or because they were separated, divorced, or widowed (21%).
Forty percent (40%) of those arrested were “dual offenders,” who sexually victimized children and possessed child pornography, with both crimes discovered in the same investigation. An additional 15% were dual offenders who attempted to sexually victimize children by soliciting undercover investigators who posed online as minors.
Well, this link pretty much states what I said earlier. That's not a very large study(I wonder why?), and even at a high of 40%, its not a majority.
Neither of those links mention most abusers videotaping their victims.
You still don't think child porn is easy to find?
No I don't. Just because its a billion dollar industry doesn't make it easy to find. If it was that easy to find, the rate of arrests would skyrocket and not only would the statistics be higher, the study groups used for these researches would be much larger.
Again, I'm not saying its not a problem. Obviously it is. I just don't think every Tom, Dick, and Harry has access to it.
As far as this child pornography side discussion goes, lets either agree to disagree or discuss it in a different(new) thread. All its really doing is hijacking the various details that will keep coming in regarding Jackson.
