Re: 'Infomercial King' Billy Mays Found Dead in Home
DEVELOPING: Television pitchman Billy Mays — who built his fame by appearing on commercials and infomercials promoting household products and gadgets — died Sunday, FOX News confirms.
Mays was found unresponsive by his wife inside his Tampa, Fla., home at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, according to the Tampa Police Department.
Police said there were no signs of forced entry to May's residence and foul play is not suspected. Authorities said an autopsy should be complete by Monday afternoon.
Mays, 50, was on board a US Airways flight that blew out its front tires as it landed at a Tampa airport on Saturday, MyFOXTampa.com reported.
US Airways spokesman Jim Olson said that none of the 138 passengers and five crew members were injured in the incident, but several passengers reported having bumps and bruises, according to the station.
Authorities have not said whether Mays' death was related to the incident.
"Although Billy lived a public life, we don't anticipate making any public statements over the next couple of days. Our family asks that you respect our privacy during these difficult times," Mays wife, Deborah, said in a statement on Sunday.

Just saw a commercial the other day where he was selling a piece of plastic that supposedly removed dents from your car. I think I'm one of the only people on the planet that didn't buy one of his products.

Wow. Hopefully this doesn't start another triangle.
The best laugh I had all day today came when I read on someone's facebook...
Pitchman until the end, Billy Mays tries to sell us his "everything happens in fours" theory.

This is stunning. I watched a live interview he did JUST YESTERDAY (we're talking like only 12 hours or so before he was pronounced dead, and seemed perfectly fine.
WOW
If Michael Jackson was Heath Ledger part II (prescription drugs), Billy Mays could be Natasha Richardson part II. His head was bumped during the rough landing of his airline flight. If he suffered a brain bleed from bumping his head, he might have had the same thing happen to him that happened to Richardson...so-called "talk and die" syndrome. This kind of stuff is just a reminder of how fragile the human body can be and we should all learn to not take it for granted.
RIP Mr. Mays.

I think what is so eeriely scary about it for me, and the same with Natasha Richardson, is that it could easily be me.
I hate hospitals. I could easily see me taking a bump on the head, brushing it off, and going home... then dying. I don't want medical attention unless absolutely necessary. Just give me the drugs, a hand shake, and i'll be on my way.

Same here man. I had a skiing accident a couple years ago where I dove forward because I was going way the fuck too fast and was about to run into a family of 4 or 5 (husband, wife, 2 or 3 small kids) who were going much slower than me. When I dove forward, I got lucky as hell and landed on my left shoulder, which broke my collar bone. But I could have just as easily have landed on my neck (instant death or paralysis) or landed on my head and ended up with something similar to Natasha Richardson. I've never had a concussion before but I'm not the type to go to the doctor. The only reason I went to the medical facility was that I realized I could not lift my left arm because it was in so much pain. I landed directly on my left shoulder going somewhere in the neighborhood of 50 miles per hour. It was one of those things that hurt when it hit but not anything I thought would be a big deal until I tried to lift my arm to get up off the ground. That's when I realized I had fucked something up bad. Another skiier pulled me up by my right arm and I was able to slowly ski my way down the mountain and luckily the medical facility was literally right by the slope that I came off of. I ended up in a sling for around 2 months, but that shit could have turned out REALLY bad.
