Yep. And at least where I live they were made the butt of jokes by radio stations and alot of fans. I hope all those fans like what they've subjected themselves to now.
I remember Pearl Jam taking flak for that too. Me and my buddies were thinking everyone was on crack. It was obvious what they were trying to do and it was for the betterment of the fans. Anyone who slagged Pearl Jam off back then was a fucking pea brain.
The only proof you need(there's alot to choose from though) of how fucked ticketmaster is, is their fucking ridiculous convenience fee. I mean isn't it swell when you physically walk up to the ticket outlet, tell them what you want, they print out your ticket and then charge you a $10 convenience fee. That'd be like ordering at McDonalds and have them tack on $10 just for convenience sake. Fuck off Ticketmaster!
