muse... i haven't heard
and hybrid theory.... which is everything that's been wrong with mainstream rock in the last decade or so... hated it from the moment i heard it.... you wanna know where all the new real rock n roll/ hard rock is? ask linkin fucking park... they helped kill it with this pile of shit....
it may be an unpoular opinion.. and i apologize if i've offended anyone... but to me... LP is a rap/rock boy band... i at least had some respect for limp bizkit when their first record came out... it sounded real and honest... this is sooooooooo manufactured and sterile...i just wish more people saw through the shine..
I agree 100000000000%. Only reason I didn't vote for it is because I never liked Godsmack and consider Death Magnetic a shit stain on Metallica's discography. Once Magnetic is out of the way, I'll probably vote for Linkin Park until its gone.

.... actually... my perspective on DM is kinda fucked because i've been listening to the guitar hero mixes since they came out... specifically the "deceifer mix"....
the actual album makes my fucking ears bleed....if you delete load, reload, garage inc, s&m, and st anger ... it actually fits in where they left off with the black album...kinda...i love it... it's aggresive, non-commercial, and a step in the correct direction for a change... so if it's the horrendous final mix of the album that is making the album unlistinable for you (as it was for me)... i highly recommend getting your hands on the mix i mentioned above.... if ya need help...lemme know

and i like godsmack's awake and linkin park's hybrid theory 
and tyler, lp just put out an album. if it sucked so bad why did people buy it? where were all this great metal bands that were supposed to stop lp from being on top of the rock charts? don't get me wrong, i haven't listened to that record in 3+ years but, they did something that appealed to many people at the time.

I havent heard Muse except for teh single and the vids that Bono put up a while back...not my thing...and i havent head U2-NLOTH...except for the singles....and they didnt make me wanna listen to the album
i've heard the rest of the albums though including the 2 that were voted pff in round 1

I can see why you'd feel this way but it's hard for me to agree. Growing up that album along with Limp Bizkit, Blink etc were a big part of my early teen years and it's the same story for a lot of people my age. They aren't necessarily still fans of Linkin Park or LB (I still have a soft spot for Blink) but they are the bands responsible for introducing me and my friends to rock as a genre, nobody stayed with those bands long but they were the stepping stone before we all branched out and broadened our musical horizons. They might not be the best bands of all time but they play a big roll in bringing in new fans to the genre. It's just a shame when you take the leap to find the real quality rock n roll you've got to look to the past rather than to any current bands.

Linkin Park's formula got old, but especially at the start they were worthwhile. I was never a big fan but Hybrid Theory is a good album imo. I still enjoy it.

.. they've also changed up a bit since hybrid theory... they get a little less "heavy" every time up... but what you're saying is my point entirely:
The fact of the matter is linkin park was DESIGNED to appeal to lots of people... it's shiny... polished... easily digestible watered down fucking pop music for people that like their music a little on the heavy side.. but don't have the patience or attention span to listen to music that may be challenging to their ears....aka "The General Public"...same with nickelback, shinedown, theory of a deadman, saliva, godsmack, hinder, seether. buckcherry, sixx am, puddle of mudd, finger eleven, creed, hell.. i could go on forever... they ALL have something in common... they're all 25th generation 90's band rip off "artists"... they took a page or two of something that was brilliant and worked from a really talented great band from the 90's ( or a couple of bands ) and stuck that shit into a meat grinder to the point where it's almost unrecognizable then they polish the turds the meat grinder spits out... throw a hook or two in there and KA CHING....that's why everyone jizzes when the real deal puts out a record.. be it audioslave.. or velvet revolver...ACTUAL artists who were the "inspiration" for all of the incestuous fucking plagiarism on the radio...
it would take no time at all to point out who any of these bands are ripping off....they have zero integrity and less originality.... cookie cutter BULLSHIT
"Great Metal" ain't on the radio, brother...never has been... never will be...
