Re: Bands you have seen live
Added Paramore and No Doubt to my list, saw them last night. Hayley is surprisingly good singing live, and No Doubt puts on a very good show with all the hits for casual fans like myself. If you sort of like either group, buy cheap seats and check it out. It's a good tour.
Re: Bands you have seen live
Def Leppard 4x - soon to be 5x next month with Poison and Cheap Trick - with Journey twice, REO Speedwagon and Styx once
Aerosmith 3x - once with Days of the New
Tom Petty 3x - once with The Black Crowes
Guns N' Roses 2x (02 and 06) - saw the end of Papa Roach's set at MSG
Van Halen 2x (last tour)
Pearl Jam
GWAR
Disturbed with Ill Nino
Boston
Steve Miller Band
Goldfinger
Save Ferris
Bon Jovi
Along the same lines, and I don't know if this has been discussed before but what are your top 5 concerts of all time?
My top 2 have to be GNR obviously. 2006 is more fresh in my mind so I'd put that at the top followed by 2002.
1) GNR 2006 - We did a little bar hopping leading up to the show at MSG, got my picture taken with a guy dressed as Slash. Saw a belt fight break out after the show. The night was eventful enough even without the concert, but the show was awesome. Got to hear the "new" tunes live.
2) GNR 2002 - I got to see Bucket, first time getting to see my favorite band so that was obviously immensely exciting. And they played my favorite song, "Rocket Queen".
3) Def Leppard 2006 - we had pretty sick seats and it was my first time seeing them. Went with a bunch of friends and we had a blast. We've seen them 3 times since and they play pretty much the same setlist but that night they played a few songs they haven't played since like "Rock, Rock (Till You Drop)", "Women", and "Too Late For Love". So that was cool
4) Van Halen - in Boston 2007. It was great to see Eddie and Dave in action. Thought they sounded great, Dave is a great frontman. Told some funny stories, knows how to work a crowd.
5) Pearl Jam - last summer. They used to be my 2nd favorite band behind GNR. I stopped following them closely after Binaural. But I thought they sounded great live and Eddie gave a shout out to my hometown (of only 13,000 people or so) that I grew up in, so that was cool and completely unexpected.
I'll give the GWAR show an honorable mention. Let's just say there were some interesting people at that show and I'll never forget it. They're quite entertaining.

Re: Bands you have seen live
GnR (1992) - Chicago concert. Possibly the best setlist ever plus 3 rows away from where Slash's setup was equals best concert ever. Smashing Pumpkins opened and the sound was absolutely horrible for them.
Pearl Jam (1993 maybe) - Summerfest in Milwaukee. Summerfest is a blast because you drink all day and see a lot of free music. Had 7th row seays (best friend was in their fan club). I wasn't a PJ fan when I went, but became a huge fan afer the show.
Matchbox Twenty, Sugar Ray, Maroon 5 (2003) - United Center in Chicago. Maroon 5 opened (before anyone knew who they were) and put on a good show. It was obvious they were musically talented, but not really my stype of music. Sugar Ray was solid (always a good show), and Matchbox Twenty was very good. Certainly the best 3 band lineup I've ever seen together. Had good floor seats.
R.E.M. (1995ish) - Tinley Park Music Theatre. Wasn't a huge R.E.M. fan before going to the concert, though I obviously knew some of their songs. This was the Monster tour, and they played a lot of their earlier hits with the distortion that dominated the Monster album. I thought it was a great show and became more of a fan after seeing them live. Good seats didn't hurt either.
Aerosmith (1989ish) - Alpine Valley Music Theatre. Awesome show on the Pump tour. Played a lot of the recent hits and the more well known older hits. The Black Crowes opened. At the time, I was about as big into Aerosmith as I was GnR, plus I think this was my first or second real concert. Had lawn seats, but they were so active that you could see them from the ghetto.
Re: Bands you have seen live
Buzz I saw REM too but in 2004. Without a doubt it was most boring show I have ever seen. The band was pathetic, the crowd was pathetic. It was the worst case of a band going through the motions or spinning their wheels that I have ever seen. Stipe continueouslly said throughout the show "We're REM and this is what we do" and I kept thinking "well that's a shame cause you're fucking awful" It was really dissapointing as I always thought they were a good band but that show ruiend them for me. The only show that I'd rank worse was the NOFX show I went to.
