Swap magic works and is simple and cheap. If you got a PSP or Nintendo ds i strongly recommend pandoras battery (PSP) or R4 chip (NDS). both are very cheap and what they can do is awesome.
R4 got shut down. If your gonna go down that route with the DS it's probably better go with Cyclos, M3 or Supercard

You can still get them on Ebay...where there's a will there's a way 
But yeah the cards you mentioned do the same thing.
