Robin didn't really do much for the fans apart from play for them when they paid...

It's not nice to talk down on someone you don't really know. No one here knows how Robin feels, so be nice.

I know that. But almost every musician in any band does that. Compare the ammount of stuff Robin does for the fans in NIN to what he did in GN'R. I'm not saying Robin didn't care but he didn't exactly strech himself to do anything for the fans like Bumble he does and saying he did is dillusional.

He still hasn't addressed those fans after 12 years, yet he has chatted with NIN fans a couple times since last year.

Lets not kid ourselves. Bucket addresses his GNR fans more than Robin does, and GNR is an off limits topic for Bucket.

Nothing wrong with being a Robin fan, but there's no need to build him up into something that he's not. He has never been fan friendly to this fan base, and he never will be either. I would not be surprised if he never addresses GNR fans, even if he lives to be 100.

Now I can agree on part of this robin thing.

To me his finest hour with the band is his playing on some of the CD songs, I thought he added some good stuff to them. Yet most of his public attention in GNR came from his live peformance of mostly older songs. So yeah - that kinda sucks for him.

We can't really speculate further as we don't know his actual motivation for leaving. Was trents offer just too good? Was there a secret Axl/Robin fight? Was he just sick of waiting? No idea.

The problem is you can't blame DJ for not being Robin - before he plays.
Just as one shouldn't have blamed Robin for not being slash - until he played.

If Axl and Slash can't sort their shit out that isn't robin's fault. And if Robin and Axl can't work out a deal to get him back then that's not DJ's fault.

I was open to giving Robin a chance...i just didn't like that he replaced Slash once i heard his rearrangment of the parts. Likewise I'm open to giving DJ a shot....if he gets up there and plays the Slash/Robin parts in a way I think is disrespectful or worse than the records then I'll be the first to say he sucks.

But right now...all we know is that he's a competent guitarist with an interesting history of la rock stuff, which makes me look forward to giving him his shot to impress me!

And who can blame him?

It isn't like Axl sets the greatest example of "how to treat GN'R fans".

Tommy addresses fans, to clear the air. If anyone addresses fans for the love of them, it's Brain. The man's job was caput in 2004 with the departure of Bucket, and Brain even trained a replacement for them. Then Brain turns around, and does interviews just for fans to have the knowledge.

The rest of them as friendly as they can be, only do interviews to push something...
