Re: Recommend Me Some Sleaze Rocky Bands Please
and none of those records is as sleazy, nasty and rockin' as Raw Power by Iggy and the Stooges. You want a blueprint for AFD....here it is. Just look at the song titles.
"Search and Destroy" – 3:29
"Gimme Danger" – 3:33
"Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell" – 4:54
"Penetration" – 3:41
"Raw Power" – 4:16
"I Need Somebody" – 4:53
"Shake Appeal" – 3:04
"Death Trip" – 6:07
Re: Recommend Me Some Sleaze Rocky Bands Please
There was a GnR like band in the late 80's, Rock City Angels. Had a good song Liza Jo (My brother had the album) and another song. I'll look it up. Saw some stuff on youtube, wasn't a fan.
Also check out TSOL. Mid-late 80's stuff was similar.
Re: Recommend Me Some Sleaze Rocky Bands Please
Thanks for all the info guys.
I went into my local CD store..and it turns out that unlike in my mind its not 1987 in there and I had trouble getting much of this stuff!!
I managed to pick up a self titled CD from faster pussycat, as well as "the very best of LA guns", and also an album from LA guns called "Cocked and Re-loaded" which seems to be some kind of bizzare AFD-rerecord style deal!!
that's all i could find so far, so i might have to turn download motherfucker to get all the stuff you've all mentioned!
Not to derail your sleaze rock thread, but I think this is an interesting stance coming from you considering that debate we had about the industry months ago. You were taking the labels side and blaming consumers for the current mess, and its a bit ironic that you are now about to download music that you cant buy because the labels wont allow you access to it.
You're now experiencing what others started to experience in the late 90s and what led to the explosion of p2p communities. Having a 20 dollar bill in your hand for an album and being told to fuck off by the labels and Wal Mart. Fifteen years ago, you could have bought all these albums being recommended in this thread at the 10 record stores in your town, but now you gotta buy Katy Perry and Hannah Montana at Wal Mart instead.
Enjoy your new Hannah Montana CD, or enjoy the torrent site of your choice.
"Search and Destroy" – 3:29
Soundgarden covered that.

Yeah it's an interesting situation.
Although, to be fair, some of this is chicken and egg, and, in this case, it's also that for whatever evil reason, popular culture and fashion has moved on.
Like to be fair to my local record store, if they spent their entire monthly cash flow stocking the shelves with the entire Faster Pussycat and L.A. Guns catalogues - I think they'd be out of business pretty fast. I'd guess not to many other people come in per day to request that stuff.
One solution to that is a paid download model. Where music could be hosted without the costs of holding physical stock in stores. But is there a comerical way to download tracks in lossless? I can live with MP3s for free music, but I object to paying money for audio quality that's below CD standard, especially in this day and age with all our technology. I mean i've got broadband....I'll take a massive download for a paid lossless recording over itunes anyday.
I dunno its all pretty complex. I mean i do agree with some of what you say in general james. But I also think in a way you take it too far. With the idea that downloading is harmless to artists and business, that labels exclusively are only to blame for the state of things, and that there's no flow on effects.
The elevated price of live shows I think is due to artists having to make money somewhere. And I do question long term if we'll get more or less good music. If an artist can't afford to invest in themselves these days they're going to be fucked. Not that the old way was always good either.
I just think people have limited budgets for entertainment. When they get used to getting stuff free they arn't going to want to pay for it again. But it costs money to make music. And somewhere someone has to pick up the bill or it can't be made. While i think the old model was flawed...i'm yet to see a model that really works in alternative for brand new artists - people semi known can do their own thing and make it pay . But i'm keeping an open mind.
