By the way, millions of Guns N' Roses fans don't even know who Robin is, much less that he was sort of in the band for awhile.

the fans know who robin is. millions bought the album in the usa. they see his picture in the booklet. they check all the epic solos he does on the album. song after song. robin rocks chinese democracy. they know robin is the best performer on the album. they know he's the same on stage with the band. this will make the "robin chants" be the main event of every gnr concert that has DJ. they know robin

millions did not buy the album in the USA.;)

according to bestbuy they have. bestbuy exclusive

they know who robin is. they see him in the booklet. they know the epic solos he does throughout the album. they know robin

they don't know DJ. DJ's the cake of the week

Money-wise, UMG broke even because of the BB deal. Which was the point, as the record company makes more money on albums than artists do anyways.

But on a sales level, CD is a Gold album. Period. It DID NOT sell millions, and never will. Just because BB has millions of copies of CD sitting in a warehouse unsold, does not mean it's a multi-platinum album.

It shipped platinum due to the exclusive, but actually went gold. Had no idea this was even open to debate. Sounds like our latest Finck fan has been reading a bit too much propaganda.

The ONLY way Best Buy ever unloads those copies is if they sell it for 2 or 3 bucks in that cheap CD section. Even their typical 5 or 6 buck CD sale wouldn't unload them at this point.

You can like the album but have the ability to call a spade a spade and not have your head in the clouds.

Oh, and there isn't one GNR fan off these boards who knows who Finck is. Finck could do a home invasion on a casual fans house and start playing the song of his choice, and they still wouldn't know who he is.

Hell, I barely know who he is and I've been following this saga since the Big Bang.

I don't think they'd have to give it away. Next Christmas sale from Black Friday on through Christmas, every BB sticks a bin in front of the store that says "GN'R albums 2 for $10", and stick the bin with about 3/4 CD and 1/4 Greatest Hits.

They'd unload those fuckers.

Newbury Comics is selling copies of Chinese Democracy now.  They're clearly from Best Buy as they have the "only available at Best Buy" sticker poorly scratched off of them.  They're selling for $11.88, there were 2 new, and 1 used for $9.99.  Not sure why they decided to sell them since Best Buy hasn't been having a very easy time in that area.  It was listed on their new releases for this week.  In case people don't know, Newbury Comics is a store originated in Boston that sells CD's, posters, t-shirts, DVD's, pop culture stuff, etc.  There's one in the mall near my home in CT so I'd imagine there are a couple other locations throughout New England, but it's not a national chain as far as I know.  Someone over at HTGTH posted this a couple days ago, he/she got the e-mail from them that it was on their list of new releases for this week.  Not that anyone should read anything into this, it's not a big deal by any means.  I just thought it was weird.  The demand isn't there, why jump on that bandwagon?  Don't get me wrong, I think it's great, but doesn't seem to make much sense business-wise.

I'm guessing a diehard fan is involved in management of the company, and are trying to "do their part" for GN'R.

Interesting.

The mom and pop stores and smaller chains are being destroyed by the record labels and "big box" stores such as Wal Mart and Best Buy. Buying some copies of CD from Best Buy, selling them at their store, and advertising it on their website is simply a desperate attempt at drawing in traffic.

If I owned a record store, I would have a few copies of CD on the racks as well, even though I would be selling them at a loss.

I used to know the guy who owned a killer record store in Missouri back in the mid 90s. The writing was on the wall back then. He said how he wasn't gonna be able to stay open much longer because Wal Mart was selling CDs for less than he could buy them himself from a distributor, and he was even having trouble getting orders.

I despise the record labels. They're the reason for the current mess, not downloaders.

That guy in Turkey who bought 60 copies should open up his own chain. 14
