A very tough call, I like both. Perhaps its more for nostalgia than anything else I don't know but I'm going with Jurassic Park. It's a shame we have to lose one of them at the first round.

Jurassic Park.
I'm actually reading the book at the moment for the first time.
The film was iconic, plus it was a landmark in special effects at the time, it set a whole new standard. I went to the cinema 3 times to see it when I was 12, it absolutely blew my mind.
The next time I felt like I was witnessing something special was in 2001 when Fellowship Of The ring came out, then that film set a new standard for special effects of the time.
Jurassic Park was on TV last night, that T-Rex scene is still fucking amazing.

I just remembered my small local cinema had been closed down for about 15 years and reopened especially to screen Jurassic Park, the whole country went dinosaur mad for a while and somebody seen an oportunity to cash in 
It was really cool though, like a proper 1930's type cinema with the red velvet upholstery and tapestries.

I agree with you that JP set a new bar in terms of effects. (I'd disagree with you about LOTR, I think The Matrix was the next movie to raise it, not LOTR). And yes, I was working at an Olive Garden back in 93 right next to a movie theater. We had like a 3 hour wait those few weeks, that movie sold out like gangbusters.
But overall movie, to me, Fight Club hands down. I'm with Neemo, I thought it'd be a blowout. I think it's time to revive that "Is this Gay??" thread, haha j/k.

Oh I know things moved on after JP with other films, I missed seeing an undoubted landmark like The Matrix in the cinema though

Tough decision but I'll go with Fight Club. If the kids in Jurassic Park got eaten I may have gone with that. Watching a 13 year old girl hack into the mainframe of that Park's computer and electrical setup to save the day was the most ridiculous thing ever. Can't vote for it over Fight Club with that kind of stupid moment.

Good Point. But its dinosaurs! Plus...it was pretty much the first decent CG of dinos...pretty classic film
