Re: ACDC's First Australian Tour In 8 Years Sold Out In Record Time
I got my ticket today for the concert (even though it's not until March next year - damn promotors having all that money for the next 9 months).
Good to see classic stadium rock still sells - and fast!!!!
I also told the missus that I am finally going to get off my ass and head down the road to Fremantle Cemetary and visit Bon Scott's grave. I can't believe I have lived in Perth all my life and never bothered to go see it - I was always gonna go and do it....
I will resist the temptation of making any comparisons to the potential of a certain band with a certain lineup, should they attempt a similar strategy.
TICKETS to AC/DC's first Australian tour in eight years have sold out in record time, according to promoters.
A third show has now gone on sale in both Sydney and Melbourne after the first concerts sold out within 15 minutes this morning in each city.
In Melbourne all 60,000 tickets to the first concert at Etihad Stadium on 11 February, 2010, sold out in just 10 minutes.
Demand was so high Ticketek's website wasn't even letting users get to its homepage.
Perth's first concert sold out in seven minutes and the second one sold out soon after.
As of 3pm today (AEST) there were still tickets available to the second Brisbane concert and the one in Adelaide.
eBay has been flooded with dozens of AC/DC tickets being sold at inflated prices for the first sold out shows.
One seller is asking for $500 for two general admission tickets
"It’s very frustrating," promoter Gary Van Egmond said of the eBay tickets.

"It’s impossible to combat. People were selling on eBay last week before the actual tickets had gone on sale and we had them taken off. But there’s nothing we can do."I feel sorry for the public. Fortunately there’s still tickets available for the third show in Melbourne (and Sydney) so they don’t need to buy them on eBay. It’s not fair.”
Van Egmond said the third show in Melbourne is the final one for that city.
"That's the most we can do in Melbourne, unless something changes at this stage that's it," he said.
The promoter has emailed the band's management with the Australian ticket sales.
"He said they’ll be besides themselves," Van Egmond said.
"We didn’t expect this kind of response, it’s been incredible. People were sleeping out overnight for tickets, which hasn’t happened for a long time."
AC/DC, formed in Sydney in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young, has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide.

Re: ACDC's First Australian Tour In 8 Years Sold Out In Record Time
I don't get this whole "sold out in 15 minutes" stuff.
I got my tickets a week and half ago in the internet presale, which I'm sure many other people did too. They didn't ALL sell out in 15 minutes this morning.
Really looking forward to it though. AC/DC put on a hell of a live show.

I'm going to all 3 melbourne shows and I'm fucking pumped!
Re: ACDC's First Australian Tour In 8 Years Sold Out In Record Time
I never bothered trying to get a ticket for the Scotland show, I'm not that keen on stadium concerts. I'm now thinking though that I wouldnt mind spending an afternoon in the sun, getting drunk and watching AC/DC. I'll have to pay well over the odds to get a ticket now though
