Re: Pepsi altering course for dumbed down public

Stuff like this is why I wish I lived in North America.

"Pepsi Natural". We have Pepsi, Pepsi Max and Diet Pepsi.

Woho...

Hmm the problem is Raw costs £1 for one can wheras regular pepsi costs half that. sad

Blame the sugar tariffs. 14 Thats what got us into this mess in the first place.

If you like Dr Pepper, just wait until a natural version comes along. It'll rip a hole in your space time continuum. 9

Well i just went and bought a can of raw and a can of regular pepsi. Compared the taste and whoa! When you drink the Raw and then try regular that aftertaste is just disgusting. I hope Raw becomes cheaper.

Ok made a mistake. Pepsi Raw isn't Pepsi Throwback, it's Pepsi Natural. So what is Natural meant to taste like. Is it anything like old Pepsi?

I've had Pepsi Natural and while I like it pretty much the same, I'll always trust regular sugar over substitutes. The aftertaste is the only big difference.

The Mountain Dew tastes okay.  It isn't as sweet as the regular one.  This is probably because I'm not a big fan of Mountain dew anyway.  Too bad cause I really like the Pepsi Throwback.

I haven't seen this mentioned here in the thread but the throwback drinks are only available for two months.  The promotion started nationwide on 4/20 and will end at approximately June 13.  I figure it is because it is more expensive to make soda with sugar than HFSC--which is in almost everything.  The safeway where I bought my drinks only had a few 12 packs left as opposed to the mountains of regular Pepsi and Mountain dew.  If you like throwback and it's on sale, buy it otherwise you might not have a chance to later on.

Nah, they're just creating a demand. Business 101. Limit your product, put in stores, get everyone addicted to it, and wanting it, take it away, then flood the market with it, and people naturally buy it up like gangbusters.

I think this is a market test for Pepsi to see if the new generation consumer, is actually interested is all-sugar soft drinks, and going back to the old school.

I will say the difference between Dew throwback and Dew regular, is not quite as vast. It doesn't break the drink either way. Both are good imo, with the advantage definitely going to to Dew throwback imo.

But the margin between Pepsi throwback is vast. I mean, for me, it's like a totally different, much better, drink.

And like the packs of Throwback disappearing, I made a point today to buy four more 8-packs of Pepsi Throwback during a Buy One Get One Free sale. My area only has them available in 8-packs. No 12 or 24-packs.

An all-new premium cola, Pepsi Natural is made with all-natural ingredients, including lightly sparkling water, natural sugar, natural caramel and kola nut extract. The amber-hued cola gets its color from natural caramel and natural apple extract. From the amount of bubbles to the foam that rises to the top of beverage when it's poured, Pepsi Natural offers a brand-new cola experience.

Pepsi Natural is packaged in a sleek 12-oz. glass bottle and is available in single-serve and 4-packs initially in the premium and/or natural food aisles of retail outlets in the following ten regional markets; Chicago, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, Portland, Las Vegas and New York.

That sucks, but this natural stuff isn't limited like the throwback stuff so maybe it will eventually come up here sad

6. Is Pepsi Natural the same as Pepsi Raw?

Last year, Pepsi released Pepsi Raw in the United Kingdom, a natural take on their beverage. Pepsi Natural seems to be very similar to Pepsi Raw, but is it the same?

I asked Pepsi this question, and they replied that "the formulas for Pepsi Natural and Pepsi Raw are similar but not the same." Just how similar are they? Let's take a look at the ingredients for both:

Pepsi Raw
Sparkling water, cane sugar, apple extract, colour (plain caramel), natural plant extracts (including natural caffeine and kola nut extract), citric, tartaric, and lactic acids, stabiliser, gum arabic and thickener, xanthan gum

Pepsi Natural
Sparkling water, sugar, natural apple extract (color), carmel color, citric acid, caffeine, acacia gum, tartaric acid, lactic acid, natural flavor, kola nut extract.

The obvious difference is the use of cane sugar in Pepsi Raw vs. the combination of cane/beet sugar in Pepsi Natural.

Comparing the caloric count, Pepsi Natural has 150 calories per serving (12 oz bottle). A 250 ml can of UK Pepsi Raw claims 100 kJ per 100 ml serving. Doing the math and fun conversion from metric, it would seem that Pepsi Raw breaks down to 11.86 calories/oz., while Pepsi Natural has 12.5 calories/oz. So they are pretty close, but not exactly the same.

so raw and natural are not the same

and throwback is only available from april to june...but again not in canada 4

all we get is Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Pepsi Caffeine-Free, Diet Pepsi Caffeine-Free and Pepsi Max.. someone should mail me a bottle each of natural, raw and throwback 16
