Re: If the Skwerl
Well, your radio station is just a drop in the ocean.
12 times a day on radio, 12 times a day on music vid channels. ALL channels. That would make good impact.
Throw in the chorus on commercials for CD
Add in some visual exposure for the band as far as interviews, appearances, performances and we're onto something.
On Sirius/XM Octane they'd played about half the album in the weeks after the albums release then it died down to the 2 singles and now it's pretty much just "Chinese Democracy" on rare occasions. When there was no real push for the album by the band or label, why would radio stations feel the need to push it themselves? And yes I know the response is, "well if the public liked it enough the music could stand on its own", or something to that effect. That is true, but that's hard to accomplish when there's no apparent effort put into the process.
Re: If the Skwerl
I really believe If The World could be a radio hit, it could easily become a "summer anthem" this year. Catcher In The Rye also has a summer sound to me, it might be too long for radio though.
I think SOD would flop, mabye I'm weary of it because I listened to it so much over the years, but I have to be in the mood for it. The first leak for me was better than the final, its just too glossy and over produced or something.
Talking of the seasons, This I Love makes me think of snow, thats gotta be a good one to drop around the Christmas season this year. With a video.
With snow.
Re: If the Skwerl
Weird is good. Its unconventional, its different, its new. This is new Guns N,Roses, releasing songs which could have been made by the old band, in a bid to sway the doubting masses is doomed to failure.
You cant waste energy trying to convince haters to accept you, its pointless. Going out with your fresh sound and gaining a new audience is a much better idea imo, its not like they dont have a larger fanbase than most to begin with anyway. If people dont like it, fuck em.
If The World cant be accused of being pretentious or overblown. Its short and catchy with some killer guitar work. Perfect.
Re: If the Skwerl
I think they intentially waited for the smoke to clear, with the amount of shit being thrown around I dont think it was a bad idea to sit on the sidelines. Nothing could have lived up to the hype and there was always going to be a fair bit of ridicule.
I think by quietly sitting it out they have avoided a potential backlash played out in public with everyone knocking their efforts, damaging the environment in which to launch a tour.
Of course I only think it was smart if they intend to relaunch with all the trimmings and a little bit more.
You know those rehearsal videos with good ol' Pooch?

Firstly I think those fan questions that will be answered by video would have been filmed at this time.
Secondly, that footage looks to me like material you'd normally find on a DVD bonus disc dontcha know
Re: If the Skwerl
radio is a give and take business. if u aren't giving them interviews, they aren't going to play your shit.
A huge media blitz and radio junket would've done huge things for CD.
people blame Best Buy but they sold it to the highest bidder which is why I laugh when peope trash and talk shit about Slash.
so u know the foot traffic BB gets and how few of stores there are. If u still sell it to them, u have no right to complain.
CD is only a flop due to the hype and mystique behind it. numbers wise, it honestly didn't do horrible all things considered. I think it flopped from a musical standpoint. It was just released in November and I haven't had a desire to listen to it in 2 months. I've listened to the UYI more in the last month than CD. I've even listened to TSI more.
