why is a powerchord called E5 for instance though
It's been ages since I had music theory, but I believe it's because it is just the E and the 5th note in the E scale (B) with another E on top.

no i know its not but it was an easy example to choose...so the name is based more on the shape though than the actual note ... thats fucked up
