If only he'd been allowed in and met Axl, they might have made up sad

It was a dumb move on Slash's part too though.  I mean even if all he wanted to do was check out the show nothing more - that would never happen smoothly.  He must have known that his presence would be noticed and therefore create some sort of pandamonium.

Absolutely. No one can be so naive than to think it wont cause a fuzz.

You honestly can't blame him though.  I could really see him wanting to see a GNR show, and see Axl perform in Guns.  When he was in the band, he was obviously disconnected from all that.

There was a quote a while back where Slash said he thought it would be "way cool" to jam with the band and that he wanted to see the band from the perspective of a fan.

And really, it could have all been innocent on Slash's part and certain people around Axl fanned the Slash hate with utter nonsense that they pulled out of their asses, as we're all aware they're capable of doing.

Also, maybe he did make arrangements with the venue to "surprise" Axl. Who knows.

I'm sure from Slash's point of view it would be interesting to watch the band as a fan/audience member for the first time and that truly may have been all his motivation.  I could understand his curiosity, if I was him I would want to attend a show to see what was so great and what exactly I couldn't grasp or deliver on musically that caused the breakup of the band.

But there is no possible way he could do that without creating some sort of stir - the guy is just too recognisable, even if he just wore a baseball cap or something and tried to disguise himself a bit, his cover would be blown in seconds.

It's probably a bit of both, curiousity about the band plus the trill of actually showing up around his old band name again.
I think people should cut him some slack and realise that GNR was his first and biggest love music wise so I can imagine the lure must have been huge.
He probably knew the GNR crew pretty well due to industry contacts and figures 'what the hell, I'm here I may as well go along for the hell of it'.
