Re: Velvet Revolver Still Mulling New Frontman
VELVET REVOLVER's MATT SORUM Interviewed At EPIPHONE REVOLVER GOLDEN GODS AWARDS - Apr. 14, 2009
VELVET REVOLVER/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Matt Sorum was interviewed by Eric Blair of "The Blairing Out With Eric Blair Show" on the "black carpet" of last week's (Tuesday, April 7) Epiphone Revolver Golden Gods Awards at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. Watch the chat below.
VELVET REVOLVER guitarist Slash recently revealed that the band is still searching for a replacement for singer Scott Weiland, who was dismissed in April 2008. He said, "There was a lot of talk about our announcing a new singer in March but it obviously didn't happen. We had somebody that we thought was a really good candidate, but it just wasn't meant to be. So, we're still looking. [As for possible VELVET REVOLVER live shows], of course VR is going to tour again, we just have to find the right person to front the band. We have a bunch of new material and we're all anxious to get going, but the key ingredient for a rock n' roll band such as VR is an amazing frontman, and we haven't found the right man for the job, yet."

^ I think you've hit the nail on the head Neemo - another VR album is Slash and Duff's last card to play so they aren't in a hurry to do that whilst they have other things to fill the days with.
But Sorum and Dave, this is the only card they have left to play, so you would assume they want to give it a crack as soon a possible.

Re: Velvet Revolver Still Mulling New Frontman
It's funny how we get these waiting periods both with GNR and VR. I guess it's just life.
This is going to sound like the most pessismic comment ever but I just hope it happens soon cos I sometimes worry about the health of these guys. Like slash has a pacemaker, and Duff absused his body badly back in the day....if anything was to happen to them we'd look back at these waits and think of the lost chances.
Still I think slash's solo album is going to be awesome. I just have that vibe about it, he's been in form recently.
I can't wait for VR to regroup though. I just hope they find someone truely badass to be the singer!

This process with Slash will hopefully make him a riff making machine again and he will be primed for the VR album.
Re: Velvet Revolver Still Mulling New Frontman
i really was one of those persons that hate VR because they hate Slash because he left Gn'R but i started to hear some VR things and i really like it i think its on the same level with Gn'R and if they do a tour i will to seem them and also have a god vibe with slash solo album (but what it makes me doubt its Fergie singing in it but i dont know just previous fellings)

Re: Velvet Revolver Still Mulling New Frontman
Glad you're opening your mind to it Coma....I think it's such a shame when fans from both "sides" let the politics of the whole situation get in the way. I'm a massive fan of both VR and also the new-GNR. They're different beasts but there's so much talent in all of these guys it's amazing.
To me Axl is by far the best singer slash has worked with, but that said, Slash has more than enough talent to make good stuff on his own, just as Axl does without slash.
I saw VR from the front row on the contraband tour and it was fucking incrediable...so much cooler than it comes over on the records. My libertad shows (in austrlaia) got cancelled cos of the scott drama...so I'm hanging for them to get it on and put out some new stuff and blow me away again.
I'd love a guns tour down under aswell...saw 93 and 07 and they were great nights!
Re: Velvet Revolver Still Mulling New Frontman
Yeah, there's really no reason to hate Slash. Why would you? Because Axl does? If you followed Axl's moves, you'd find yourself wondering what the fuck happened with 15 years of your life.
I've been a critic of Slash post-GNR, but that never stopped me from listening to his most accessible stuff.
