Re: Warship arrives as pirates’ options dwindle

As soon as that U.S. warship got there, it was over.
That captain is lucky to be alive. I have all the faith in the world in our military, and like you said, this incident was over once we moved in. However, we can and will lose innocent lives in these types of incidents.
We have to crack down hard to create a huge deterrent to these guys doing similar things in the future.
If I was president, there would currently be cruise missiles and B-2 Bombers raining down on Somalia's parade.
Re: Warship arrives as pirates’ options dwindle
I'm just glad we got in there and kicked a little ass.
It's nice to hear a good ending sometimes in life, and not every fucking thing being some nihilistic Miami Vice ender with someone blowing their brains out or getting shot at the 11th hour.
We've had to much of that lately in the news, with all of these massacres n' shit.
Re: Warship arrives as pirates’ options dwindle
Not sure who you'd bomb in Somalia unless you're talking about warlords. The government doesn't condone this and doesn't really exist.
Somalia is a no mans land. Has been for a few decades. We walked in there in 92 to feed their people, and walked out of there with our tail between our legs with 5 year old kids shooting machine guns at our troops in 93.
Its becoming clear that a big part of this piracy problem originates in Somalia. It is a huge problem and is only now getting headlines because Americans were the target.
They have said they will not stop. These people don't respect words. You simply start carpet bombing their homes and villages until they see the error of their ways and realize holding americans hostage isn't in their best interest.
Piracy is linked to terrorism, and in fact is an act of terrorism itself. In 2001 after 9/11, Somalia was actually on our target list of countries to hit simply because there is such a huge terrorist presence there. Unfortunately the neo cons got a hard on for Iraq, so certain countries sponsoring terrorism were ignored.
Time to stop ignoring them.
In the mid 80s, Libya wanted to bomb night clubs and establishments that were frequented by U.S. troops/civilians. They bombed some nightclub in Germany and were of course happy about it. Reagan wasn't happy, and instead of ordering airstrikes on military facilities only, he ordered strikes on areas known to contain civilians, and more importantly members of Gaddafi's family, killing one of his small children.
When you respond to terrorism with massive amounts of violence, it tends to lower the chances of future terrorism.
Re: Warship arrives as pirates’ options dwindle
Bush didn't make up shit about terrorists. The U.S. actually gave Iraq TOO much time to sell off the arms.
If we would've just busted in there, no warning, no public address from Bush, we would've found all kinds of shit in that place.
But Bush had to play politics, because that's how the game is played.
Bad thing is, he was viewed as a warmonger anyways. It blows my mind to this day how America is the big bad, bad guy for Iraq... 'cause you know the Middle East was such a peace loving, heavenly place to be before we came in. Fuck off...
I voted for Obama, and have supported him for the most part, but I about wanted to put my foot through the TV when he started talking that Nancy Pelosi-liberal bullshit about suing Bush for his illegal war.
If Bush is the all-powerful nazi they claim him to be, I totally support a greenlight for Obama's "removal" in that situation.
*end rant*
Obama bullcrapped his way to getting elected concering Iraq. I told people for months, that Obama would stay the course in Iraq, because the U.S. is COMMITTED TO IT. They aren't gonna let that place become a power vaccum for warlords. Period. Obama knows this, and he's gonna keep it real. The liberals were the only ones spanking their monkey convinced Iraq would be over within the week of Obama's inaugaration. Surprise, it ain't, and we ain't goin' nowhere for YEARS. Even after we're out of there, we'll have Embassies & military bases there, probably for decades.

Wrong. If you had to pick body parts of your loved ones off the ground on a regular basis, how would you feel about that?
The "war on terror" has fueled the anger and hate many muslims have against the west, and has given many young people, and generations still to come, more reason to rise up against "the oppressors", than the radicalist preachers ever could have achieved.

Iraq was a threat to fuck all, nothing was found because nothing was there! The country had been on its knees for years before the invasion and prior to that the biggest export of radicalsim and terrorism was Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, fucking allies of the west.
Show me examples of this Iraqi terrorist threat Bush spoke of please and show me Iraqi terrorists striking on western soil, ever.
Iraq had never been an export of terrorists prior to the invasion, and the reason for the invasion was because of Saddam allegedly harbouring "weapons of mass destruction". He did have them at one time, because we fucking sold them to him, but they were destroyed by the UN in the years following the first Gulf War.
There is a reason so many heads have rolled since that invasion and that because so much of the apparent evidence to support the claims has since been proved to have been fabricated, or at best, exagerated.
